With my first my tub/shower was way too small for me to move around in one I got around 8 mths. So I just let it go, and I did not care.there is no way mh was doing it and my skin is way too sensitive for wax.if I had a larger tub/shower that I could fit a chair or stool in, I would keep trying, but I was totally fine with the all natural route. I did have a 3rd almost 4th degree tear and didn't notice any problems with the healing, but maybe my stiches would have been better if I would have been shaved.

First things first, KatieSetler, can I be your best friend? That was such an awesome read.
I usually like to keep myself clean shaven as well, but, one of the first things my DH said when we found out we were expecting was "yay! you'll have a 60's porno bush!" I'm assuming he won't even attempt to shave me with that amount of excitement. I'll probably consider waxing as well, I've never had it done, but we'll see.

SUGARING! Way less painful than waxing and doesn't rip you skin off. Google it in your area or Google "The Wicked Hair" the sell home use sugar. I swear by it.

Thank you for sharing this! I just looked it up and it all looks really great. I am going to order some to give it a try. I hate shaving and I am too much of a baby to get waxed....plus I don't like strangers all up in my naughty place.

    Thanks!

I wax myself because I am an esthetician and the more you wax the easier and less painful it is. I would recommend going for professional waxing for sure!

LOL! The title of this thread made me spit my drink out :))

I'm such a baby- my friend took me waxing with her at the European Wax Center and I was flinching and uncomfortable the whole time. I said I'd never go back! What's funny is that my husband brought up this exact topic yesterday and said I need to make sure I keep up on the maintenance down there..lol he's not used to it not being taken care of. He said he would fully step in and help whenever it got to the point where I couldn't handle it any longer. LOL - he cuts his own hair and does a good job, so I'm confident things will be ok...should be interesting!

I shaved all the way up till my daughter came. When they ended up having to do a c-section it was a good feeling when they put razor away without using it. Especially since the little one blade Bic had me cringing at just the thought!

I've thought about waxing but I don't think I could let it grow long enough to have it done! Drives me crazy to just go one day. I'd love to have laser hair removal done, but being a redhead they say it can't be done! :( I'm glad to hear that it does grow back softer over time. Maybe I'll bite the bullet this time.

Wax it. That's what I do anyways.

I don't think my current husband would do that.  But my exhusband would do it right before I gave birth.  The first time was nerve wrecking but he took his time and was careful.

I was wondering the same thing!! My friends have all said they could reach until the end and just did the best they could. I got my first Brazilian wax a few months before getting pregnant and HELL NO. It hurt like a B. I will not be attempting while pregnant, I'd rather be the weird bush lady.
  • Options
This was awesome to read! Already told my man that he's going to be doing my ladyscaping if I can't reach near the end!
  • Options
Yes waxing is the best! The hair does come back center and softer and the results of waxing far outweigh having to let it grow for a little bit. Even the cleanest shave is not as soft as waxing :-)

I did it blind with the first and my DH was sure to let me know that I missed some spots after delivery. Oh well!

I use trimmers and put my former gymnastic/dance ability to the test.  Like a pp said, I propped a foot up as high as I could and went at it from there.  I checked what I could in the mirror and went by feel for the rest.

You'd be surprised with how long you can actually do it yourself. I did it with both previous pregnancies right up to the end. Was I out of breath, you bet but it's worth it! Lol

With the first I could reach right up until I had my son (but it was a little uncomfortable) I cut myself a few times, but got better at just going by feel :-)

Oh geeze! I better get started on some yoga. I can't stand hair down there and definitely don't trust my husband, and don't have the funds to start consistently waxing.

If you have not waxed before but are wanting to be waxed for labor and delivery then you should start now! Don't wait until you are 9 months pregnant!

My hubby loves giving me "coochie cuts" I honestly have not done it myself since we met 4 years ago. I must be one of the lucky ones ;)

Hi girls! Sorry I'm late to the party but I read the title wrong. I literally thought you put a door in your baby's room leading to the backyard and since I'm not interested in yardwork, I just kept skipping this thread.

Don't remember this being an issue with my first, it's been so long. I think I ladyscaped myself though. I wouldn't trust SO to do it. He shaved my legs once and was too nervous. Plus he'd probably give me a landing strip. I think I did the blind reach around. I've had practice since without my glasses or contacts I am blind as a bat. Sometimes I shave without my glasses on so it's pretty much the same thing. I do remember having trouble painting my toe nails though. SO helped me with that a lot. I didn't like going to get a pedicure because they made their tub water way too hot. I was nervous it wasn't good for the baby.

*edited because auto correct changed ladyscaped to lays scape.

Just went and got a Brazilian sugar :) no shaving and I don't have to ask my hubby to do it! And when I showed him the results he loved it!!!! Would recommend!

19 weeks and it is officially becoming more difficult to landscape the lady garden. I fear it may become a wild meadow until harvest time in the fall.

I guess I'm in the minority-  I totally had my hubby do it at the end of my first pregnancy.... and my legs too!
I found that he was extra careful because he didn't want to cut me.
I do have to say though, he is a particularly furry fella and has a lot of experience with a razor....

My skin is really sensitive so I mostly just nair my bikini line and keep the rest neat and tidy with a nice trimmer.
Since showering still makes me sick at this point I've been spending as little time as possible in it, and over the last ~16 weeks things have gotten a little out of hand- I may need to get a wax (even though I know my skin will rash) so I can get back into maintenance mode...haha.

Luckily swimsuit season will be over long before we can't see ourselves anymore!

This is beyond hilarious! We need to be friends. I was just talking to my gf about this the other day. I've got a bump, just a small one, and already have to bend over slightly more than usual to attempt a decent clean up. Well I nicked myself and it definitely wasn't cool. I came outta the bathroom and told my BF about it and he was just like "geezus be careful. I can do it if you want." I about died at how serious he was, said "thanks but no thanks. I trust you but not with a sharp razor all up by my goodies." He simply replies with "...and apparently you can't trust yourself either." I'm still not convinced to let him try, I'll just continue to be extra careful and hope that was a one time thing. Ouch.

I did it on my own except for one time. But I'm not gonna lie, just the idea of having someone shave down there makes me nervous lol this time my OB was like "oh you should just let it grow, there's the risk of skin irritation or infection from a cut". I just death glared him and he stopped talking lol

Wondering how everyone is doing with this now that we are in or nearing the third trimester. Can I just admit that I would like to do nothing? Will I scare off my midwives?

Just got waxed today. I'm going every 4-5 weeks. I can't see down there, so I have no desire or energy to take care of it myself. Have to bring in the professionals :-).
  • Options
I'm blind shaving right now. But even if I don't make it all the way, I've heard the nurses have seen it all and don't care.
  • Options
I let my husband shave it tonight... I was terrified the whole time but he was very careful and gentle and he did a good job but he has been shaving my legs for the past 2 weeks because I just can't bend down anymore.. I have been wearing flip flops and o have no idea what I'm going to do when it gets cold out...

My Dr. hasn't disowned me yet! I'm uncomfortable enough, I don't need ingrown hairs as well! I do keep it trimmed most of the time...

I've been lucky enough to reach until the end with all 3 and so far this ones going just as good. I just squat in the tub :). It helps I have some length on me though...
  • Options
I've been blindly shaving for weeks now but that's getting tricky. Going to have to bring in reinforcements a/k/a SO! I'm nervous but I cannot let it just go... would be way too uncomfortable. Going to try this squatting in the tub thing first like @Cook3133 suggested.

On another note, I put socks and sneakers on tonight all by myself like a big girl. This was no easy task and will get trickier in the fall. Better shop now for more slip ons.

When I had my daughter my partner cut the grass for me.
But now he has up and left us with bub#2 still cooking I just wing it.
First time looked terrible, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
My downstairs is up to date, but my legs are a different story! Lol

Been playing the guessing/feeling around game for what feels like forever now. I don't trust my SO with a razor down there, more because when I brought it up the look on his face basically said "don't trust me with that thing on ur lady bits!" Squatting definitely works still. I'll just be happy when all this is over and I start feeling (and looking) normal again. I just want her here already and my patience is wearing thin...and I've still got ten weeks two days left! Ahhhh! :-?
