Children are smarter then I'd like

i thought I was doin a decent job at putting on a happy face and doing what I need to do everyday but when my three year old randomly comes up to me and say "mommy just be happy please" it breaks my heart! Anxiety and depression struggles plus pregnancy is kicking my butt more then I thought apparently.

  • Aww! That is precious though!

  • Aww he is so sweet. I had a hormone overload moment with DD last week. She was misbehaving, which is totally out of character, and just wouldn't listen (she was also running on fumes and super cranky). Hubby was not home. She was supposed to pick up her toys, but didn't want to and threw a toy or two. I was getting frustrated, but stayed calm. After she finally complied, I told her to put on her shoes so we could run to the store, and she kicked them instead. I just used my "teacher voice" and sternly said, "Stop, NOW," and she started bawling. I felt like the worst mother in the world for some reason, and I completely lost it. I sobbed and cried and told my daughter I was sorry. She immediately stopped crying, hugged me, then sat next to me and stroked my hair. Hubby came home to us like that, all worried.... I told him the story and he was like, "Seriously....? You're crying because you were disciplining our child...?" And I just wailed, "ITS MY HORMONES!!!"

Funny now, but interesting how my daughter knew just what I needed and, for whatever reason, stopped throwing her own fit so I could throw mine.

  • Multiply mine by five. The two oldest help a lot, for the most part. But even they can have little tantrums (ages 8 and 10 so I'm getting tween attitude from oldest). I'm just so done being pregnant and have reached my patience limit. It seems everyone is acting out and I'm always snapping because of it. Then cue major mom guilt because this is NOT how I want my kids to remember me when they think on their childhood: moody and irritable. Ugh!
