Stop, start contractions

Can someone please give me some hope, I'm 40 weeks exactly today. I was examined on Monday and already 2cm dilated, I lost my plug on Wednesday and started with contactions that evening, by Thursday they were more regular and intensified however by Friday morning NOTHING and nothing since.... Im becoming majorly fed up now and just want my boy to come.
Has this happened to anyone else?

    Yep, sorry to say but I've been having contractions on and off for nearly two weeks. 39 weeks today so glad they didn't go anywhere so she could cook for a bit longer but they bloody hurt. Really hoping every time I get them now that they lead somewhere instead of just tormenting me and keeping me up all night. I hope yours lead to something and you'll have your boy soon. Only another couple of weeks at most.

    This is normal. Your body is gearing up for labor. It's frustrating but very normal. Hang in there!

    Yep its normal. I was due on Wednesday and started having contractions late that night. I had them 10 minutes apart for 48 hours but now they've pretty much stopped.
    It's driving me crazy. Hang in there, we're almost to the end!

    Thankyou for your responses, i guese I'm just going to have to be patient. Every day I'm thinking today's the day and start timing them and feel so disheartened when they result to nothing.
    I'm booked in for another stretch and sweep on Monday so fingers crossed he will make an appearance soon.
    Good luck to all you other mummy's I'll be looking out for your birth announcement.

    Yes, same here. Had so many contraction during week  37 that I thought I will go into labor. Tomorrow I will be 40 weeks and nada! Contractions disapeared!! I have been 1 cm for two weeks now and nothing ;/

    Same here. 40+3 today and still having on amd off contractions. Our time will come! Hang in there Momma!
