Swollen vagina. Tmi?

I looked and found nothing in the search feature..

So I shaved in my shower last night, (which mind you is getting harder to do with this bump in my way), and when I was drying I noticed my vagina, was swollen.
It doesn't hurt. It doesn't smell or have weird discharge. My pee is normal. So I don't think it's an infection. I don't have any STD's.

I looked it up and read that it could be due to extra blood flow, and the pressure from the baby. To also start doing kegles.
At 19 weeks I wasn't really expecting this, but thanks little baby. Making my vagina look five times bigger, and me self conscious in front of DH.

Any other moms experiencing this. Have you found anything that takes the swelling down? I don't really want to put ice on my vagina. Or anything cold for that matter.
It's not hurting or bothering me, I just want the swelling to go away.

Re: Swollen vagina. Tmi?

  • I found that giving birth helped :)  It's just extra blood flow and unless you vag is the size of a melon, I doubt DH will notice. I can also try cool cloths or cool baths. Wrap an ice pack in a washcloth and the cold isn't as intense.

  • Lol. Sadly I can't try the giving birth for another 20 weeks.
I never noticed/had this with my first son. Just another example of why this son is so much different.

I hate cold baths, so I might try the cool cloths.
It's not bothering me, it's just weird and annoying.
  • I haven't experienced it yet this time around but I did for my last two pregnancies. It is just part of the joy of pregnancy. Mine never bothered me so I didn't do anything about it and when I eventually looked after birth it was back to normal.

Oh my gosh I was cracking up at this!

  • Mine too. It's huge! :-/
  • Yep, me too! I shaved, and immediately noticed it was harder (it was getting a bit out of control, sorry hubby!) not just because of bump, but because my labia were larger and not as taught as usual! My labia minora (spelling?) are almost non existent with swelling. Sorry, way too much info! Hubby thinks it is hilarious.
  • I never even noticed that before! It's crazy to see what we go through during pregnancy!

  • And people without kids/men think all we experience is a belly. Pregnancy has some awful side effects! Crazy looking vag, nipples look out of sorts, hemorrhoids, never being able to poop to constant diarrhea, hair loss, acne.. I could keep going. Feeling the baby move and the baby finally being here are the main two ups of pregnancy. The rest of this shit is hard work!
  • My vagina actually hurts.....not like a UTI or anything. It just hurts. Must be the extra blood flow and pressure. I haven't looked at it but it feels like it's swollen. I'm only 19 weeks too. :/ WAHHHH
  • @atetschner about a week or two back, I woke up and my vagina hurt like I had a crazy night of sex. But i didn't. I didn't do anything to make it hurt like that. It went away, an now two weeks later I'm all swollen cause of blood flow..

    Isn't pregnancy beautiful?
  • I wouldn't worry unless it hurts for more then a couple days. I had some really light spotting for about three days then my bag one became swollen and irritated. Turns out I had some kind of an infection, the doctor wasn't even sure what kind of infection but gave me a cream that is helping tremendously
