Movement question, week 23/24

hi ladies,

I'm just wondering if you will share how much movement you are feeling on a daily basis in your second trimester?
I am 24 weeks tomm; some days, baby girl kicks me all day long, others like yesterday and today- very little movement felt. I honestly don't remember if at this stage sporadic movement is normal since having my 1st 3 years ago.
I appreciate your feedback!

Hugs!

Re: Movement question, week 23/24

  • Mine is still moving sporadically through out the day, some days I don't feel him at all but when I lay in bed he moves a little more. Sometimes it wakes me up because of how hard he's flipping and kicking. I work on my feet, so he is probably sleeping all day and awake all night.

  • Mine was sometimes a bunch sometimes constant, I'm 25 weeks and there are still times she hides, and other times I swear she's going to bruise me she's so active.
  • Mine is still sporadic as well. These past two days she moved a lot, but then today nothing :) my OB said sometimes baby will sleep more some days than others and your activity level each day makes a big difference as well :)
  • I could've written this myself!! Doe days I get so much movement and big kicks at that others hardly anything at all, if I'm on my feet more I don't feel as much which figures coz I'd be rocking bub to sleep. I don't remember movement being like this with my first either!
  • Since 21 weeks it's been movement daily and getting stronger by the week. Now at almost 25w she is most active late at night and early in the morning. Sometimes during the day as well if I'm laying down, especially if I've had fruit or a cold beverage. I don't notice it as much when I'm out and about but for the last month there hasn't been a day when I haven't felt her move at least at night or enough to wake me up around 4-5am.
I'm a FTM so I have no prior experience with movement before this LO but it seems to vary greatly from person to person (as with so many other things in pregnancy).
  • Yep very sporadic here. Some days tons of movement, other days hardly anything! I was letting it stress me out but now I've accepted it as normal.
  • I'm 25w and I have been feeling movement every day for about 8 weeks (STM). Baby usually has 2 or 3 episodes of shifting/kicking per day that are visible from the outside plus irregular, smaller kicks throughout the day. Some days there is more movement, some days there is less. As long as there is movement every day I'm happy :)
  • thank you ladies!!!
  • So glad you posted. Movement is constantly on my mind. (Ftm) I've been feeling baby girl consistently since 19 weeks ..I'm now 25 weeks. I find some days she's so active with big kicks and jabs visible from the outside and others a flutter here or there. My doc says I should feel something everyday...but not to track movements yet. I do have a home Doppler and try to not use it but I find if I haven't felt more than a flutter I will sometimes pull it out to check on her. She hates the Doppler sound and usually kicks really hard after a min of finding her heartbeat. I think it really varies day to day for most moms until we are into 28 and 30 weeks when I hear its way more noticeable.
  • This is my third, I'm 25 weeks. With my first, a girl, she kicked constantly. My second and this one, both boys, do not move as much. I usually only feel him late at night in bed. I think everyone is different, so don't compare or worry!
  • Thank you for posting this! I'm 22 wks and just talked to a rude women who said I should be tracking movements and should be worried if I don't feel baby at least 4 times every hour! Glad to read this thread.
  • Does anyone know when we should start tracking movements?
  • @mcarreira282 most OBs say 26-28 weeks, they'll probably give you a chart to use.

@Elisemenchies that is absurd!! 4 times EVERY hour?! Babies sleep too! Glad you aren't stressing over that :)
  • Having very sporadic movement also, it terrifies me when I don't feel anything. I'm ready for big kicks I'm a FTM so I'm sure ill regret saying that.
  • The doctor did say he has short legs do you think that would effect movement?
  • I have felt baby daily since about a week and a half ago. (I'm 21w4d.) Some days baby moves for hours without a break, and then someday it's one kick an hour!
  • It has varied for me between subtle enough I'd question if it was movement or miss it if I was focusing on something else. To intense enough to keep me awake for up to an hour of straight movement (I'm 24 weeks tomorrow).

I'm 25 weeks and it is still totally random, although the kicks I get now are much stronger than a few weeks ago.  I also have an anterior placenta so that muffles some of them.  Asked my doc about it last week and she said not to worry about kick counts just yet.

  • She is still pretty random, but getting stronger and more frequent. DH felt her for the first time last night.
  • I have asthma and anytime I do a breathing treatment my little one moves around a lot. He hasn't been moving around a whole bunch the last couple days at least that I noticed. Mostly at night is when he moves around

Babies sleep a lot right now, so it is normal to not feel movement for several hours of the day. Counting movements is in third tri.

  • At 24 weeks I was still feeling him sporadically. At 26 I feel him every day, mostly in the evenings.

  • I'm 23 weeks and feel him very often (several times an hour) but there are times when I can tell hes sleeping because I won't feel him for a few hours.
