As a FTM I am in awe at the # of diapers we go through, but am wondering if other moms change when just wet, not poopy? My 3 week old boy HATES being wet & often I find when he is fussy & it's not hunger related that he is wet. He is instantly content when I change him into a dry diaper. Often he is just wet & not poopy too, so we go through more diapers to keep him dry & happy.

I always change before feed too. Actually was taught by nurses in the hospital to do that. Helps wake baby up to feed
I always try to change before a feeding too but many times my son wakes up and immediately wants to feed and there is no denying that. He will cry and cry until the nipple is in his mouth. The more he cries, the more chances of gas... Ugh

Plus I really like those strip indicators on the pampers to let me know that there is some wetness and he needs to be changed.
Besides nappy rash is caused by moisture from wet nappies. Won't risk it even for the sake of saving money.
