Since it's all over the news and I'm bored- discussion

Since the news is full of this story this week, I was interested in what everyone here thinks. WWYD if you found out your SO was on of the people with an Ashley Madison account? (Besides just freak out, which I am sure is a given for all of us). Also, would you ever check the data for your SO's info?

I actually know three people who have checked their spouses' emails on some of those web pages that have been created for this- none of them had their spouses come up, but I thought that was pretty much like checking someone's phone/email etc. and I'd feel like a jerk doing something like that to DH. But I guess I can understand the curiosity on some level.

    I would of course freak out but it would also most likely mean divorce. The fees for the dumb site are ridiculous. We are about to have a baby and you paid how much to cheat on us X( As far as checking emails go if I ever suspected DH of doing something suspicious I would but I have no reason to.

    I'm not really familiar with the Ashley Madison site. DH only really plays games on his phone, and if I ask him if he knows what site that is, I'm sure his exact response would be "what the F is that?". (He always responds with an F word if he's confused.)

    But as an answer to your question. If I feel like DH is being weird, I'd have the respect to ask him. If he denied it and continued with his weird behavior, maybe I'd look into it. But I respect DH enough to come out and talk to him about anything on my mind. As he does the same.


    If I ever found DH on a site like that, or found out he was fooling around on anything, then it would cause an immediate problem. Of course.
    We've both voiced that divorce isn't an option. Our first marriage is our last. (Because of our families history and our person opinions on that matter).
    But I have told him if I ever found anything I would move back to our home state, and take our child with me. As he would need time alone to either think about the impact his actions would have, or to continue his crappy behavior.


    DH has come from the cheating/divorce/abuse situation with his parents. It's not in him to cheat. He's completely against it. He's always told me from the moment we started dating, "if I didn't want to be with you, I wouldn't be. If I didn't love you, you'd know it."

    I can't even begin to imagine what those families must be going through right now. Was it a disgruntled customer who did the hack? I saw the owner speaking on tv in a pre-hack interview - so disgusting. If you want to get with a ton of people and have lots of sex and fulfill fantasies, then go do it, but don't deceive someone who loves you to do it (ie just don't get married).

    Side note: Josh Duggar was on that website and admitted to have been cheating on his wife. As if the molestation news wasn't bad enough

    His wife continues to support him. I wouldn't stay with a cheater. It just means they never loved you or respected you enough to get marital help. No doubt the molestation news was horrible.

    @anightintunisia I can understand very few cases of working it out with someone who was unfaithful, but ultimately I would support whatever decision was made by the person in the relationship. (Which I'm sure is an UO but whatever.) EITHER WAY my heart is broken for his wife Anna and their little babies... I can only imagine how much of a nightmare this all has been for her.

    I just read something saying Sam from sam and nia (the YouTube couple. He surprised her by telling her she's pregnant and then they miscarried days later) was also found to be on the sight. I don't know if it's true or if it's some kind of sick joke. So messed up either way.

    My SO and I have been looking through the lists in our area just out of curiosity. I've seen multiple un-married college aged guys on there that I know. Obviously they were trying to get with married women. Just sick!

    I checked my SO's email on the list. I also checked mine. I am fairly confident I have never cheated, but I was just curious if my email got picked up somewhere.

    Also, my SO isn't an idiot. He would obviously create a different email that I didn't know about if he was going to pull thst crap. Ahahah. I was confident he wouldn't return a positive result.

    @ChrissyD1203 I actually spoke to the founder of the site on a radio station here in LA about a couple of years ago when the site was new the radio Dj's topic was if whether people agreed with a site like this...so when I was chosen to speak I told him how disgusting it was that he would make a site like this to help ruin lives just because certain low life's didn't know how to keep it in their pants and his response was I don't agree with you and why wouldn't you want people to be happy! I had to be cut off cause I was getting bleeped with my response back
