Now that I'm feeling better, I want to get back to running. Anyone out there have a good recommendation for tummy support? My belly is WAY bigger now than this time last pregnancy!
Belly band! Paula Radcliffe used the belly band while running during her pregnancy. I will definitely get one, so I can keep running as long as possible.
Edited because I forgot the rest of my last sentence lol.
I commend you for attempting to run. I enjoy jogging but did not consistently jog before pregnancy… I went for a "brisk" walk the other day and about died, I could not imagine jogging right now. Seriously… ^:)^
@JaimeRuns <--- I think she is still jogging… any advice?
Not sure about tummy support but I'm following this thread for when you get ideas! I'm trying to keep running as long as I can, and I think I'm finally getting some endurance back now that I'm in the second trimester!
Awesome that you're running... Pregnant running is so flippin hard!!!! I haven't gotten the belly band yet but the reviews are great and I've read tons of blogs about them.
My biggest prob so far are my ginormous boobs (they've seriously gotten huge and hurt all the time). I just ordered a moving comfort bra so I'll have to let you all know how it works.
Some tips (incl. belly band) from this awesome runner:
Thanks, all! I ordered a band on Amazon before I left for a trip...we will see if I can get back at it and I'll leave a review! And Jaimeruns...I recall my boobs being an issue after my daughter was born ...let me know how the bras work!
Ditto on the sports bra issue! I always had smallish boobs (34b) that did just fine in a regular sports bra but now my ladies are much bigger and I'm having a hard time finding a bra to run in. Too tight and my boobs hurt since they are more sensitive to touch/pressure now but too loose and they bounce all over the place.. And also hurt! Suggestions?? I know Victoria secrets has some pretty intense support sports bras but They are expensive.. Don't want to invest the money if they won't work for me either or I only wear them a few times...
Wondering how your pace has changed. I usually run an 8/8:30 pace but am pushing myself at 10 right now! Wondering how pace has changed for y'all too!
I went from running a 9/9:30 pace pre-pregnant to not being able to run constantly at a 10:30 pace.. So it's more like a run/walk/run/walk. I didn't run at all my first trimester because I was so exhausted and nauseous all the time. I only went out 2 times this week and once last week. I'm not all that concerned with my times or having to walk.. I figure doing any exercise during pregnancy is better then most..

I ran about the same 7:45-8:45 depending on how long. Now I can hold 8:45-9, but haven't ran over 5 miles. My tatas can't last any longer. Still waiting on that bra to come in! Fx it does today!!!
I'm also interested to hear thoughts on sports bras. Not that I run, now or before BFP, but I do love trapeze and even though my girls were a 32B+, they felt like they were in the way before. I'm planning on getting back into trapeze after I'm cleared post-delivery and am nervous about how much they'll be in the way since they're a full C now plus I plan to BF.
Ok so I FINALLY got my Moving Comfort bra and let me tell you, it is AMAZING!!! Ran 3 miles in it today after work and no pain- none at all!!!
I got the Fiona, which was pretty awesome at holding up the girls. I got the same size I normally wear in a bra- 34D, although now I'm more of a DD. But I like my sports bras to be a little tight, and they do tend to give a bit over time.
One really cool feature I like about this is the straps. They come undone very easily and loop through a little hole in the front to adjust... I see this as being awesome for breastfeeding. This one wasn't a racerback so I'm going to order one of those too, like right now- the Rebound Racer, they're on sale! Normal price is a little higher than the Nike bras I usually go for, but I'm so done with those. Never turning back from Moving Comfort- I'm officially a convert!!!
Here's a link to the one I just got but they have tons, and suggestions for each cup size. Definitely give them a try- super worth it!
Hello anyone left? I'm currently running 2 miles at 11min. Just wondering who else is still running? I am currently 34 weeks and I run with a belly band since 29 weeks. It's my first pregnancy. I felt sharp sensations down there today on the treadmill. I don't run every day anymore cut it back a lot but still enjoy it. I feel like the baby dropped today and feel after my run today my belly looks lower. Is it possible or just in my head. I guess I'll find out more at my next appointment.
I wish I was!!! I have threatened preterm labor, so my doctor stopped my running at 29 weeks, and told me to Powerwalk and use the incline, it's good for my butt. Lol literally that's what she said. I envy anyone still able to run. I powerwalk 6 days a week though. Hope everything turns out ok for you with the sharp sensations. I think people drop at different times too.
Ran a 5k this past Saturday at 32 weeks, pushing DS1 & his 2 y/o buddy in the new double BOB, took me 37 minutes but I was just happy to finish without walking! I can't hardly run two days in a row anymore bc it makes me too sore but I'm still doing 2-3 miles 2-3x/week and doing Body Pump 2-3x/week.

You are amazing!! I feel like I can barely walk at 3.0 mph let alone run!
As for sports bras... I'm not running, but I do teach step aerobics. I definitely had to get new bras as I grew to a 38DDD. I did not want to pay too much for them either. I ended up getting La Isla Women's Full Coverage Extra Strong Level 3 Wirefree Sports Molded Bra Black 38DD from Amazon. It was only $16. I went back and bought 3 more. It's lightly padded which also helped with my nipple sensitivity. I still need to invest in a belly band. And, soon. Lol.
I'm 33 weeks still able to run about 2 miles at 5.5mph or 11 mins/mile....the key seems to be wearing athletic pants that are supportive and go over the bump...I've been using the Gemini Tights by Splits59....not maternity but the band can go over the bump. I do it 2-3 times per week but focus on toning/sculpting classes like barre and Pilates the other days. I feel like the running definitely strains the pelvic floor and without the other exercises it would be harder going into delivery, at least for me. Plus the toning classes keep me feeling strong.
Definitely strains the pelvic floor. I am 34 weeks 5 days today and have been still enjoying my runs but Def cut it down 12 min miles for 2 miles is a good day. I do it 3 times per week if that. I am moving towards the eliptical or just walking on n the treadmill. Maybe some light arm machine weights. But definitely have been wearing a belly band since week 28.

I'm still trying to run 5 miles a day, 3-4 times a week, and then light weights/yoga on the other days. Same as pre-preg, but my pace has slowed down a lot (running is down to around 9:30min/mile from 7:30), and I'm stopping the treadmill every 10 minutes to pee! I was getting pretty bad leg pain - kind of felt like shin splints but all over - while running. My doctor recommended wearing a maternity band while running and compression socks (that just go around my calves) during the day, and the pain has pretty much gone away completely!

That is awesome! I don't know how you do it but you go!
