Breastfeeding immediately after rotavirus drops

Can I breastfeed immediately after the rotavirus drops. I am seeing conflicting information in the internet that we need to wait atleast an hour as antibodies in breastmilk will reduce the vaccine's efficiency and some say it can be done immediately..I breastfed my baby immediately after the vaccine to soothe him and I am now freaking out...

Re: Breastfeeding immediately after rotavirus drops

  • Our pediatrician allowed me to nurse immediately in the exam room after the shots and oral vaccine yesterday. Did not mention any conflicts or concerns about it.

  • I did too. My doctor told me to so I am not worried. I'm sure it's fine.
  • Yeah, I fed my twins and the doctor told me it was totally fine. I wouldn't worry.

  • I did without question. Within seconds of her last shot, I had her on the boob for comfort. No one told me not to, but the doctor wasn't in the room. I didn't even think about it.
  • I also bf yesterday after shots. They told me exam room was mine until I was finished when I asked about feeding after. They never said anything bad about doing so.
  • I breastfed straight after, but LO was hungry. He gets very vocal if he has to wait for food so even if I'd been advised to wait (which I wasn't) I don't think I would have lasted an hour.
  • I bf right after her last shot to soothe her. The nurse said the room was all mine until LO was finished.
  • I think OP is specifically asking about the new oral rotavirus vaccine. My LO did not get it so I'm not sure, and it's so new we don't really know, you will probably get conflicting advice

Our LO had the oral vaccine I inquired with our Pediatrician and he indicated he didn't think there would be any issue with feeding even if it was right away.

I did find that LO had a little clear spit up after feeding so I wonder if it's more the concern that they may spit up the liquid that they have just ingested with the milk?
