Baby not smiling

Is it normal that my 7 almost 8 week old isn't smiling? I'm a ftm so basically everything worries me. :)

Re: Baby not smiling

  • Yes! My DD didn't really socially smile until probably 9/10 weeks, she'd smile in her sleep before then or attempt to smile but wouldn't flash one on her own or immediately when we smiled at her. I was extremely worried, but now at 13 weeks she is smiling all the time. Give it a little longer! I'd say don't freak out completely until 3 months and there's nothing. I'm no doctor though, but from my experience that would be my advice. Our DD wasn't interested in people as much as our fans so it took a minute to get her attention and keep it.

  • OP, give it about 3/4 more weeks or so. My DS is just 8 weeks and he smiled twice this week, with interaction.
  • My daughter smiled on and off during 8 weeks now that she is 11 weeks she smiles like crazy when we talk to her ect image
  • I was worried for no reason. He's been such a smiley boy this morning. :)
  • Totally normal, Mama! I was worried about it, too. My baby would just watch and stare at me...until one magical day, I went to get her in the morning when she woke up, and she grinned at me so big!! I was so happy I almost cried. Hang in there...your day (or morning!) will l come!
