2nd Trimester

22 weeks and feel huge.

Once I found out I was pregnant at 6 wks I just bloated up. I was all in my stomach, all bloat and now my legs are already swollen. I feel bigger than I should be and have already gained 11lbs. My knees don't have that indent they look connected to my calves. Been swimming at the pool 3 days a week. It feels better but this heat hasnt helped. Does anyone else feel this way?

  • Welcome to pregnancy in all it's glory. By 36 weeks you'll have a new definition for huge.

    Lol definitely this.
  • I definitely feel the same!

11lbs at 22 weeks is nothing to worry about, I was up 20lbs by that stage. I thought I was big then, I'm 29 weeks now and yeah ... not looking forward to 36 weeks.
  • I'm soooo with you!
  • I'm very short in the torso so I'm all stomach right now. But only from the side can you even tell I'm pregnant which means I'm growing up and out.
  • 22 weeks and I've gained 26 lbs. My fingers are swelling some, but not my legs yet. Heat certainly doesn't help.

  • I'm 25 weeks and though I've only gained less than 10 and was underweight to begin with I feel like I swallowed a basketball. I'm struggling with imagining how I'm possibly going to not just topple straight forward with the way my bump and boobs keep growing straight out.
It's super funny going out shopping though because from the back you seriously can't tell that I'm pregnant at all...I turn around and get wide eyed looks from strangers or very honest but innocent comments from little kids. My legs and arms are still the exact same size and I was butt-deficient before this whole pregnancy thing so could some of this growth please head towards my rear end????
  • I read that it is totally normal to gain 5 lbs in your first tri and an additional pound per week in to the third (when it may slow down a bit to 1/2 lb) so 11 lbs at 22 weeks is not more than you should, since that formula would put you closer to 15, and a bit less is definitely normal. I am over that (20 lbs at 25 weeks) and my doctor is not concerned.

  • I was looking back at 20 weeks the other day and man do I wish I was still that small. 34 weeks got me popping out of everything I own, luckily I am all belly though so maybe it will be easy to drop lol
  • At 21 weeks I had gained 13 lbs so I think you're good.
  • Having been thru this a ll before (like many of you) it really is crazy how you become larger than a house but then baby comes and all goes Back to normal... "And this too shall pass"
  • Heck. I'm at 23 weeks, and 110 pounds! I've gained about 2 pounds only! Lost a few, though, when I was sick for two weeks with the flu last month. And only got 3 of that I HAD gained...back. @-) So, I went from 107 at the end of the flu, to 110.

For some people, not for all...

  • its normal! but if your not sure see your doctor , I would get the swelling checked out just in case
  • Oh no I did go up 20lb I gained 10 in a month
  • Not everyone stays within the suggested weight gain. I think that as long as you are eating healthy and avoiding junk for the most part that you shouldn't worry.
  • I'm quite tall and skinny/lanky limbs so my bump is quite narrow but long.. As i have a l
arge torso there is lots of room for baby to grow

I normally wear looks fitting shirts etc but people notice my bump now compared to 3-4 weeks ago where they said it wasn't noticeable
