Chubby ladies help me out!

edited August 2015 in February 2016 Moms
Hello ladies (:
I am just over 13 weeks prego, due February 23, 2016. I am around 5'5, my starting weight was 170, i wore a size 14 roughly. I've already gained 10 pounds, basically because that's the only way I could get past the nausea. If my stomach was empty during first trimester, THAT was when I thought I was going to throw up. So, I'm up there for weight gain. But anyways, I was just wondering if there was anyone close to my size that has any bump pics so I can see what others similar to me looked like, and when exactly they started showing.
I just want to look pregnant, not fat ):

HHHEEEELLLLPPPPPP!

Re: Chubby ladies help me out!

  • I am in the same sort of boat, my starting weight was 174, due date Feb 22nd, and I am 5'6". Last pregnancy I gained a ton, over 40 lbs for sure, I kind of stopped counting after that, lol. This time I started losing weight and am now gaining that back. I do have a discernible bump, it's not perfectly round, but it sticks out noticeably. I'll take a pic later to show, but now I'm on my computer and have no pics :( When you start showing depends on your shape too I think, I have a short torso so that might have an effect on that.

  • Just keep making healthy choices :) gaining weight during pregnancy is inevitable. I managed to only gain 35lbs with my twins but am already up 5lbs at 15+3. I've noticed my weight gain fluctuating though. Some days I'm up 7...other days I'm up 1. I figure until my doctor says to slow down, just keep doing what I'm doing.

    Ps. I'm 5'3", was 165 PP and a size 12/14 pp. Here's my 12wk bump (3rd baby 2nd pregnancy)

  • So jealous of everyone who is showing already! I'm 13weeks (due2/24) and am the same way. I'm 5'10" and luckily lost about 20lbs in my first trimester but now have the appetite of a trucker. (I think my hubby is horrified but won't say). I am dying for my bump to show so people don't think I've just gotten fat! Sigh! This was me on Tuesday. No bump just lumpy!
  • Try on some maternity pants. Sometimes it gives your blump/chub just a little more definition instead of cutting off right where your uterus is.

This is the worst phase, I think, because you feel like crap, you feel/look chubby, and nothing fits right. I'm also a 14 and have got a nice belly pudge leftover from DD, so I'm definitely not feeling very pregnant and beautiful these days.

  • I was 152-ish lbs. at the start of this whole thing and actually dropped to 144 because of the constant nausea and vomiting. I'm finally starting to get my appetite back but I know what you mean when you say you want to look pregnant not fat. I still fit in all my old clothes and you would never know there's a baby under there yet.
Last night i had a pregnancy class and was super jealous of all the cute bumps i saw so believe me you're not alone in that.

    Yep basically this.
  • This was my first pregnancy, I was about a size 16 to start and I didn't have a noticeable bump until 28w. Below is 28w,29w+2,30w+2 and 32 w
Praying this is our take home baby. STICK TURKEY Mommy will miss you everyday my beautiful angel. We love you Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers M/C on 1/05/11 at 11 weeks.
  • I'm about the same as you! 5'3 started at 164, now I'm 174. I had to wear maternity pants because regular jeans cut off at the most uncomfortable place! The picture I'm 11 weeks. I'm 13 weeks now. I feel huge. Not to mention I have a huge booty now!

I am about the same weight/ height as you. I started at 168 and am 5'4" (rounded up  :D ) I haven't gained any yet, and I don't really have a bump that is any larger than what I had before being pregnant. The only difference is that it's harder to suck it in. I am now slowly moving into maternity pants from my last pregnancy but they are still a bit loose. Last pregnancy, I started at about 157 and gained about 35 lbs and ended up in the low 190s. After birth, I came back down to 170 ish pretty quickly but was never able to shed the remaining baby weight before I got pregnant with this one. Here is the picture of my non-existing bump:

  • I am 13 weeks and heavier than you. I don't think I look any different. My pants don't fit, but I doubt anyone can see a difference at this point despite there being twins on board.

I think you bring up such a good point about not being able to suck it in anymore.  What is that about!?  I've just started to own it since I can't hide it.

Transitioning into maternity pants, as others have mentioned, is also a really good suggestion.  They do round everything out nicely.
