Night #3 of this bulls#%!

Night #3 of no sleep. Insomnia at its worst ! I'm not in any pain it's just that I can't fall asleep. I'm 40w2d pregnant, I wish this was a sign of labor but that's just wishful thinking at this point I'd take anything as a sign that baby boy is on his way....

Why the heck can't I catch any zzzzzz's ?!?!

  • I'm in the same boat 40 weeks today and night 3 pf restless, and I'm usally a really good sleeper.
  • @saratiff scared to take it bc I tried it the first night & it made me super groggy but I still couldn't fall asleep. So I felt poopy & couldn't sleep.
  • Wide awake here too!!! Ugh..

  • Yup I'm awake too. :-( typically a great sleeper but last week n this week have been tough!
  • I used to be able to sleep soundly with some exercise before hand but the last 2 weeks have been rougher and I've had several nights of 2 hours of sleep only. The saying "don't wake a sleeping baby" also applies to "don't wake a sleeping pregnant lady."

  • @kettlekitten me too! Sore nips, looking at DS every five minutes, and this sore vag! Gah
  • My midwife recommended unisom for me but the day I bought it I went into labor (for the next three days, sadly enough). Maybe just buying it brings some good juju!
  • so sorry, insomnia suck big time.  I am having a little bit, but not as bad as you yet.  Good luck and I am sending labor vibes your way!

  • Ugh, I'm sorry! Towards the end of my pregnancy I was up all the time. The only thing that really helped me was taking a warm bath (even at 4 a.m.). It may be worth a try?
  • My doctor told me Unisom as well. I've been taking it here and there as I feel like I need to, but not every single night. It doesn't knock me out but definitely helps me fall back asleep after every time I get up to use the bathroom!! She said it is perfectly safe for pregnant women and I know she wouldn't tell me to take something that she wouldn't also take herself.

Good luck, I hope you get some much needed sleep soon!
  • @mjpensyl I was going to suggest the same thing!! I always took a bath in the middle of the night bc it was the only natural way I could get tired enough/relaxed to fall asleep!
  • I hear you. I haven't been able to get more than an hour at a time in about 6 weeks. I can't fall asleep, but even if I do, it's only for a short time.....aaaaaand then I have to get up to pee. Sigh.
  • I have a 23 day old and she lays snoozing and I'm wide awake. I'm exhausted but can't sleep. Hopefully it'll get better for you after delivery.

  • Doc recommended I drink some coffee (caffeine) today because I've had a headache for 3 days and altho it's been 9hrs, I'm laying here wide awake. Have a feeling it's gonna be another long night!
  • I second what PP said about warm bath.  These days I never get tired on my own.  So, every night when it's time for bed I turn the shower on as hot as I can stand it, sit on the bottom of the tub with my bath pillow, lean my head on the wall and just wait for the sleepiness to come...which usually doesn't take long, maybe 15 minutes.  Once I start nodding off I jump out, dry off, and jump in bed so as not to miss the sleep wave! lol.  Sometimes I take half of a Unisom pill to make sure I stay asleep for long enough that I'm not a zombie the next day.

    Give it a try!

I haven't slept in a month. Baby is so active at night. I'm just over it. I figured might as well get used to it.
