GD questions

okay so, when I did my 3-hour glucose test I was supposed to follow a specific diet for 3 days prior, which I kinda half-assed to be honest. I mean I still ate healthily, just not exactly what the diet sheet said. I also have a pretty serious aversion to drinking water, even flavored, so I didn't drink much water in the days prior. I failed my glucose test just barely (my numbers were literally riding the line) and got my meter and new diet list, which I plan on following as closely as possible. all of that to say, I started everything today and I've been forcing down water between breakfast and snack, and my numbers have been 90 after waking and 106 two hours after breakfast. it may be too soon to tell, but here are my questions: would not following the 3-day diet, plus not drinking water, have altered my numbers during the test? and also, if it remains well-controlled after a few weeks will I still have to continue checking my glucose levels as long as I maintain my diet? I have 8 weeks left and I already hate the finger pricks ):
(Sorry about the novel, I'm just trying to provide plenty of info!)

Re: GD questions

  • Not following the diet shouldn't really effect it, yes if you numbers are good they may reduce your amount of testing and there is a huge GD post going and is super helpful:)
