Diaper Subscription?

So I'm considering using the Honest Co. diaper subscription for a monthly delivery of diapers and wipes. It's 6 jumbo packs of diapers and 4 packs of wipes per shipment for around $80 a month. Plus they get delivered to my door instead of me hunting them down in Target or BBB praying they have the size I need.
I'm a FTM and not sure if this is enough/worth it? I know diapers are a huge expense so I'm looking to go the smart route as far as doing this. Any info/tips/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Diaper Subscription?

  • I use Amazon mom with subscribe and save and love it! Like you said, having them come to your doorstep is such a stress reliever. Not to mention, the discounts rock and you can't go wrong with free shipping! Not sure if they partner with Honest (we were Pampers people) but I'm all about the subscription - Amazon or not :)

  • Honest co is def not the route to go if looking for smartest/cheapest. Someone posted a good chart the other day. I posted below. If you are set on organic the best deal seems to be the bamboo brand. I'm going with pampers swaddlers sensitive with sensitive hypoallergenic wipes after looking at price per diaper and asking around other moms. No one seems to have a bad thing to say and can do Amazon mom subscription after if I want. Had a target gift card which i used to stock up plus they had buy 2 large packs get a $10 gift card and 5% off on their cartwheel app. People who use honest co seem to love it but when you look at price on link below its a lott more. Their wipes seem pricey as well and heard those dry out.

    Happy shopping!

  • That chart is awesome!
  • I have found, at least with my son, that not all diapers work for all children. I received a bunch of diapers from a family members (various brands) and most did not work for my son (leaks). The best for us were Pampers Swaddlers. I also think their wipes are the softest, too.

  • I calculated the per-diaper cost of an Amazon mom subscription vs. stocking up at Target when they have a $10 of you buy two boxes promotion. So I'd say it's worth it.

I haven't calculated the cost of Honest Compsny per diaper, but I'm guessing it's worth having a subscription.

It's certainly worth having piece of mind that you won't run out of diapers.

  • I'd wait to sign up for the subscription until you figure out what works best for the baby. My son broke out with honest co and earths best which is so weird because they're supposed to be good for their skin. He can only wear pampers sensitive which we get super cheap through Amazon.
  • Honest offers a lot of promotions. I ordered a bundle with 40% off coupon so will try them and cancel if don't like!
  • We bought a few different small packs of newborn size in different brands. We want to use the Honest Company subscription, but plan to try all the brands to find the best fit/quality for our baby. Different brands fit babies differently and some have better durability leak-wise. If Honest diapers work well for her, we plan on using the subscription, SO worth it!!
  • We used the honest subscription for our first. It was not the cheapest option I'm sure but that wasn't my goal in choosing them. I would suggest doing a trial first because as pp have said, all babies are different and react to different diapers in different ways.
We occasionally ran out of wipes before the next box came. Might be because I used those wipes on fingers and faces too (not always recommended with other wipes due to lotions, etc that make them soft). Overall I would highly recommend these if they agree with your baby and you don't mind a small additional cost for chemical free diapers purchased from a socially and environmentally responsible company.

I have heard from several moms that Bambo is way better than Honest Co in terms of effectiveness If you're looking to go the more natural route. I plan on subscribing via Amazon Mom.
  • We are using the once you wash in organic cotton which is great for baby skin and for also the environment and wallet.
  • We are using Amazon subscribe and save to get the Bambo diapers which are rated highest for green diapers. They also have the wetness indicator which is nice for when they are little and avoiding diaper rash.
  • I'm subscribing to Amazon Mom. I heard that Honest diapers weren't that great, but every child is different! I have so many samples of different brands of diapers, that I'm going to use them first and see which ones work best before ordering a bunch of diapers.

  • Amazon is starting to sound like the way to go lol. I did the math and it would definitely be cheaper to go the subscription route VS in store, but I totally agree that I should see which ones work for our LO to start. The nice thing is if the Honest don't work for her we can cancel at any time. I did buy a box of Pampers Swaddlers because those were what we used with my little sisters and my nieces and nephews, so those will be a fall back. I've heard both good and bad about Honest Co. but I know every baby is different so what works for some doesn't work for all. Thank you all for the input!
  • yeah we are having the same dilemma and decided to wait on subscribing. we got some target gift cards for our shower so stocked up on some pampers swaddlers as well (my sis said those were the best for my nephew) in newborn and size 1. assuming those work for us we will go with the amazon mom subscription once our target gift cards run out.
  • I am a nanny and the little girl I watch uses honest. I hate the diapers they constantly leak and she has blowouts all the time. They don't fit her well at all but her mom won't change. I do like there wipes though.
  • I plan to use Amazon subscriptions. With Amazon mom they have good deals and often have coupons you can add to your cart. Also, if it is like most Amazon subscriptions you can skip months or change your delivery schedule if needed. I plan on doing that because occasionally target has really good deals on diapers. I will probably switch between the two to save the most money possible.
  • Is Amazon subscribe and save same as Amazon mom? Is there a cost to Amazon mom like prime ? Or is it just committing to deliveries coming ? I stocked up on pampers swaddlers with target gift cards but may consider that after then!

@christina4436 - yes, Amazon Mom and Amazon Subscribe and Save are the same (I think). And yes, you do have to be a Prime member which is $99/year unless you are a student (half price for students). You get 20% off diapers with Amazon Mom and 5% off other items like wipes, etc. Edit: I think Amazom Mom is only available with Prime and probably the deeper 20% discount is available with this. I manage it all through the Subscribe and Save link so a little confusing. I love Prime!!

This! My sister used them and said the only thing good about them was the convenience and the cute designs. When you look at cost based on how often you have to change baby imo it's not worth it.

I plan to use Amazon mom for my deliveries. Better selection and free shipping... and I can throw some things for me in the box too
