I'm Type 1 and 10 weeks tomorrow. The fluctuations in insulin needs already are a bit tricky but just test test test. I got my A1c from 7.2 just before becoming pregnant to 6.5 by my labs at 8 weeks.
I don't really avoid many foods unless it's not healthy for baby. I stay mindful of carbs and make sure I am taking enough insulin to cover it. After eating I test at least two hours later and correct as needed. The only thing I was able to eat for two weeks was fast food. I just tested often so I knew where my levels were and when they needed correction.
This may be different for type 2. Despite having the same name they're different.
I'm border line type 2. So pregnancy is one on the things that trigger it. I have a high risk doctor calling me about every 2 weeks to go over my sugars. My problem is the morning one so I'm on haft a pill for that. Everything else it's carbs count and walking. If I want chick fil a I need to mall walk or take my toddler to the park. I still have about one or two sugars every two weeks high but was told that's okay. Cravings are hard but then I try to think of how I can change it a little to have it.

I've been taking metformin 1000mg haven't had many high levels, however it's super hard to keep them like so, not being able to have carbs sucks but it's for the best right?
