Help! Calling all TYPE A To-Do List-ers :)

I have a hyper-organized, type A, perfectionist deeeeeep down inside of me, and she is just beginning to surface! I am in list-making mode and want to have a monthly list to make my daily/weekly lists from, but I just don't know where to start! :( anyone have monthly to-do's that they wanna share so I can pretend to be on top of it like you are??? ;) Thanks in advance!

Re: Help! Calling all TYPE A To-Do List-ers :)

  • I don't have a timeframe for my lists, but I have a list for hospital bag, diaper bag, an emergency bag to keep in the car, household items to stock up on, family medical leave/insurance paperwork to have/complete after baby is born, food to have in house either prepped (freezer meals) or easy to prep, anddddd I think that's it.

Hope that's helpful! Let me know if you want me to elaborate on any of those lists and I can share them when I get home!

  • Thanks ladies ! @casserole27 I looked for this all morning but never could locate it :)
  • Haha I am an extreme type A too. I of course thrive in high pressure situations, right now i'm working, in school full time, due in Oct and moving. So I need a monthly calendar at work and at home (with some of the same info on both), I show up at least an hr early at work (office job) so that I can do some extra homework each day while it's quiet, I have a daily to do for my house, my work and my school.
  • I'm a binder fanatic so I have a binder for me and a binder for baby that I have on me 24/7. I'm the lady with the purse so big and heavy that her husband feels obligated to hold it for her when she's pregnant.

My Binder: Sections for event information (5K forms, paint nite registration, concert tix, etc), bills, medical (nothing prenatal, though), to-do's (grocery list, weekly meal plan, household shopping list), coupons, taxes/ legal documents, car stuff (registration, proof of insurance, etc.) and banking. I also have a planner for day to day. Any last minute "to-do" type things I'll write in red that day (like "pick up usb cord" kind of stuff... today it's "pick up pumpkin spice creamer")

Baby Binder: In binder planner for baby related appointments ONLY. Sections for 1st Trimester, 2nd Trimester, 3rd Trimester, Hospital/ Birthing plan. I have records of all the paperwork given to me during each stage, a copy of the hospital questionaire, ultrasound photos from each stage, I also have checklists for each trimester. I'll be adding another section for the pediatrician information and another for insurance since those will be needed at the hospital, too.

Once he's born I'll make a new binder for him! YAY!

It's kind of cool, though, because I'll always be able to file the binders away in storage and be able to look back on a specific year and be sentimental. I'll also have easy filing access if I need to recall important info from a specific year!

  • Wow, that's so intense! Way to go! I had a "binder friend" in college and was always so jealous of how crisp and organized and cute her binders for everything were...I could never hope to be so on top of things! Hahaha

Thanks for posting this! Just added "make and freeze lactation cookies" to my to do list.

I feel like I bought out target and buy buy baby for things we "might need" before DS was born. It was like I was preparing for the apocalypse!

This time around, I know that DH can run to the store for me if needed, but I'll need to prep the more time-consuming things before - like making lactation cookies, freezer meals, etc.

I just keep massive to do lists on my phone and enjoy deleting all of the items. This weekend, our handyman will be attaching all questionable furniture to walls with anti-tip restraints (safe for both toddler and new baby), hanging drapery rods in nursery, and other little things that I don't want to do myself.

  • Yes! @CocoRO4Freezer meals! I'm still working on that! We have my dad and brother in from out of town for a couple weeks once baby is born so I'm not worried about the cooking getting done... I'm worried about the dishes getting done, haha. Trying to research as many one pan frozen meals I can prep as possible!
  • My birthing class provided me with a list of stuff needed for labor then post part um to bring to the hospital. At home though I made padsicles (look them up on pintrest!), got breast pads, hemerroid cream, prep h woman's wipes, flushable witch hazel wipes, a sitz bath, pads, and breast wipes. That way I don't have to send the hubby out for anything and him buy the wrong thing. Wash all the clothes in baby detergent and organize a changing station. If breastfeeding, set up a comfy space in the nursery to nurse with everything you need there (boppy, table, burp clothes, breast wipes...). Install car seat and have it checked at fire station. I hope this helps you!

My to-do list needs revamped. But it terms of tips, break down all area of your life that need to be in order. For example last month I had....Baby, Work, House, Friends shower I planned, and moving. I made a list for each, then I broke them down into what need done by when and made my daily list from those. Not sure if that is what you are asking. I feel like all our list would be sooo different :-S
  • Thank you @llinde5 and @waltersmom83 great things to add to my lists an an organized way to do it :). It's all coming together slowly but surely and I'm trying to take it one step at a time. When I get overwhelmed, I am virtually paralyzed and don't know where to begin, so I DONT. Haha, that's what I'm avoiding. I ain't got time for that. :D
  • I had an overall to-do list I probably printed from the bump or another website (which I added/subtracted to as appropriate), then I divided it monthly and then weekly.  Each Saturday AM, I would make a list of what I was going to do that weekend.  It made things more manageable and less overwhelming for me.
