Please tell me I'm overreacting

So one of my best friends just had her baby, they didn't find out the sex and weren't telling names. She just texted and said they had a girl and they named her the one girl name DH and I both absolutely love. Her and I have never talked about it so it's not her fault but I am seriously devastated. DH doesn't get why I'm so upset.

    That's tough! I think it's natural to be upset, but to feel conflicted b/c you know she didn't do it intentionally. My DH wouldn't understand either...

    Oh, I'm so sorry. I would feel upset itoo. It sounds like she was not aware from your post that the name was one you had your heart set on...what is the name?

    Oh man! I am so sorry! That really does suck, I guess that is the reason why DH and I have told just about everyone the names that we want to use. (((BIGHUGS)))

    I would be very upset at the situation, not at her bc she didn't know, but def. at the situation.  I'm so sorry.  I don't think you're overreacting -- and I don't think my DH would quite get it either.

    I'm not upset at her and it's totally not her fault, I was just shocked when I read it and of course just seems to make everything else so much worse.

    Yeah, I'd be totally bummed too, I totally sympathize with you.  But men don't get it, I know H would think I was crazy.  Vent here!

    I agree with pp--I'd be upset at the situation but not her. Still, there's no rule that the name is permanently off limits to you as well. Is it the kind of name where you could derive a cute nickname from it other than what your friend calls her DC? For example, say the name was Victoria and you called your DC "Torri."

    This is one of my biggest fears! We have been ttc for almost 2 yrs now and we have a set boys name and a pretty set girls name...all of my firends either just had babies or are currently pg...i am so nervous that someone will "steal" one of our names (we haven't shared them with anyone)

    I did have one very good friend ask me what our names were b/c she said she didn't want to take any of them since we had been ttc longer then her and her dh...i thought that was soooo sweet
