Something You May Not Have Been Told About L&D

I experienced the shakes with my son (vaginal delivery). It wasn't bad but it def felt weird because I couldn't control it.

  • Totally happened to me both times too. The nurses kept offering me blankets lol

  • Yup that happened with my DD just as I was getting to 10 cm dilated.

  • I had a major, long, hot flash right after vaginal delivery. The nurses brought in a fan and I kept it on me all night.
  • I had the shakes. Having my husband brush my hair was all that calmed them.
  • My aunt had really bad shakes after she had my cousin. She's always thought it was because she had an epidural, but isn't quite sure.

I had it too. It was uncontrollable, I didn't know what was happening.

Edit* Vaginal delivery. I blamed the pitocin, light epidural, and whatever other meds they put in me without permission!
  • I had the shakes after I got my epidural. My legs were so cold it was like they were in an ice bath. I even made the comment "oh that's warm" when they broke my water, tmi and gross I know but that goes to show where your mind is then lol.
  • My sister had the shakes with a completely natural birth. The nurse / doctor said it was because of the adrenaline. They didn't seem fazed by it at all.
  • I had a completely med free vaginal delivery with my son. I shook so hard I could barely hold him. between the adrenaline, blood loss, and exhaustion from pushing, it's completely normal. With a csection, the shaking is from the anesthesia and blood loss. It's a lot on your body at once, but normal.
