Coconut oil for acne?

So my skin is the absolute worst it has ever been in my life. (Like way worse than high school...haha.) I hear amazing things about coconut oil for your face, but someone mentioned to me once that there are different kinds of oils that work better for different complexions? Google just gave me too many results so I thought I'd ask here, especially since some of you are probably in the same boat :)

Re: Coconut oil for acne?

  • I used coconut oil as a moisturizer years ago and I still use it occasionally and I had good results. It has antibacterial qualities which helps. My skin cleared up the most when I switched to a sensitive skin face wash, a simple moisturizer (like coconut oil) and use just a BB cream. I also make sure to clean pillow cases regularly, never keep makeup on at home or when I sleep, and drink lots of water!

  • I use it everyday! It's my only belly cream and no stretch marks!! Plus, it has sooo many good things and is 100% natural! I got bad acne after stopping bc and it helped a lot. I also use it as a make up remover, night oil and deep conditioner

I used the oil cleansing method for ages and I loved it. It will take a few days for your skin to adjust, but it was amazing (for me, at least). It took off my makeup so easily and it forced me to kind of relax when I washed my face at night. I used a combination of EVOO and castor oil. I massaged a small amount on my face for 30 seconds to a minute, then held a wet warm/hot washcloth to my face for about a minute, then just wiped it clean with the washcloth. I ran out of oil ages ago, and have been just washing my face with water and using a good moisturizer and my skin has looked great, all while being on the pill, quitting the pill and getting pregnant. Lots of hormonal changes in the time since I ran out (and have been too lazy to get more castor oil) and I feel like it helped balance my skin. It is pretty sensitive so the oil is really gentle.

Here is the site that I used for making the right ratio. I have normal to dry skin so I used a little more EVOO than castor oil.

I have also used coconut oil, especially for getting off makeup, but I think I liked the EVOO and castor oil better for my whole face (For the cleansing part, coconut oil works well for moisturizing).

    Edited to clarify a little.
