Crazy Nesting!

What has been the craziest "nesting" thing you have done so far?

My husband and I are moving to be closer to family this weekend. We have been wanting to move for a while, but weren't considering it until next summer. However, I got a very strong urge to move two weeks ago (so much so, that I started applying for a new job). I am a teacher, and I was planning on stricktly subing this next year. However, I just interviewed and accepted a position yesterday for a 1st grade teaching position. So, we are packing everything and moving this weekend! We found a house to rent in less than 24 hours, and are now waiting to hear back about my husbands interview that he had yesterday as well. I feel like I must be nuts for moving and starting a new job so late in pregnancy! However, I am really excited to start our next adventure!

Re: Crazy Nesting!

  • The craziest thing is that I haven't gotten into the nesting thing at all. With my last I was always working on projects, cooking peach cobbler at midnite and whatever else. With this one I am so swollen, in pain and exhausted and can't do much.

  • Congratulations on the new job and good luck with the move! I was also planning on subbing only this year and just put in an application for a teaching position yesterday.
  • Wow! That's a ton of change! Congrats on new job and new home!

I'm crazy nesting, too, but that means cleaning out every closet and storage area and donating the majority of items to Salvation Army. I sent 20 bags of stuff last weekend to SA and it felt so so so good to get it out of my house. Then, the baby's furniture and other large items were delivered and I feel like I've gotten nowhere again.

  • So exciting! Congrats!

I just physically haven't been able to do as much as my over active brain would like but regardless I did manage to move, completely re-decorate, re-organize from top to bottom, new living room furniture, new bed set/ mattress (finally out of a full size!) and get most of the nursery done! Doing a project this weekend... ATTEMPTING to put a solar system on the nursery wall made out of embroidery rings, fabric, string and ribbon... we'll see... Oh! And lots of baking. Mostly banana bread, zucchini bread, etc. Although I will be baking peach, strawberry cobbler tonight and my husband wants to make a homemade pumpkin pie out of a real pumpkin since the property we live on has a big compost pile that grows pumpkins and gourds like weeds!

I am also in the camp of not doing very much. I had big plans, but it is just way too hot and I'm exhausted most of the time.  I have "scheduled" BIL to finally paint the baby's room next week (he's a handyman and offered), then my dad to come help put together the crib, etc, the following week. Hopefully once that is done it will be cooler and I'll feel more motivated!
  • This is my first baby and I have the entire nursery done... every thing labeled, organized, washed and put away.  I come up with new projects to do because I am clearly obsessed.  I just want everything to be perfect for our little one and refuse to let having a baby be my excuse for having an unorganized, messy house. Want to be prepared!!
