My DS is loving his solids and I am ready to give him some finger foods to try in his high chair. I know a lot of people start on Puffs, but I would prefer to try something mushier if that makes sense. I was thinking of half mashing some avocados. Not mashing them as much as I do for his puree though. Is that ok? What have you tried that worked well and was not a choking hazard? TIA!
Re: First time finger foods?
May I also suggest zwieback toast. It's hard, but the babies bite it off slowly and it mushes in their mouths as well.
I think avocado would be really hard for DC to pick up and frustrating.
We did puffs, mum mum and cheerios first. But we've now been doing foods. Her favorite so far are sweet potato fry chunks. We did butternut squash chunks, but they were too soft and kept mushing out of hand. I've also given her small chunks of cooked apples and pears.
