Compound Prevacid dosage

in June 2015 Moms
just had to switch LO over to Prevacid bc the Zantac wasn't working. They put her on the compound Prevacid but only .33 ml once a day... Seems so little and she is doing horrible today with it. Just curious any moms out there have experience with the liquid compound ? And how much they are giving or did give? MyLO is 8 weeks and weighs 12 lbs 6 oz

    ^^^ what's the concentration of the medication? ie how many milligrams in each mL?

    We are doing 2.5 ml twice a day (5 ml/day) equaling 15 mg/day. And my baby weighs 10 lbs 6 ounces.

    We usually start the dose of Prevacid at around 1.4 mg/kg/day. 12 lbs 6 oz = 5.625 kg... x 1.4 = 7.875 mg/day. Which is about 2.5 mL if the concentration is 3mg/mL. Seems low to me. You may just want to double check with the Dr.

    Yes concentration is the same at 3 mg/ml.

    So 5 ml/ day (2.5 in the morning, 2.5 at night) at 3 mg/ml for a total of 15 mg/day is what my son is on. He is also on five drops of BioGaia probiotics a day.

    We were just prescribed 2mg/ml Prevacid at 3 ml/day. LO is 12lb 2 oz.

    Where did you get the probiotics? Did u have to order them online? Have you noticed a difference with the added probiotic?

    And what the hell is my doctor thinking?!? I'm so mad!!

    We got the drops at the local children's hospital pharmacy which is where the gastroenterologist's office is but I just looked online and it looks like you can order them on Amazon or get them from Walgreens. The drops also contain the daily dose of vitamin d so if you are giving vitamin d drops, this probiotic contains it which is nice. My baby is still colicky but I have noticed less spit up and more smiley time which is progress. We started the probiotic and the Prevacid together so it is hard to tell what is attributed to what. Yeah your doctor definitely gave you SUCH a low dose it's probably not doing anything for your little babe.

    I must add this was all advised/prescribed by the GI dr the pediatrician sent us to so you may want to go see a specialist or talk to your ped before giving your babe the drops even though they are otc.
