Boobs..... Agony

hi ladies

Quick question I'm 34 weeks and this week have very painful breasts all the time , the pain is everywhere and not just near the nipples

I don't really get this symptom early on im wondering is this normal maybe breasts preparing for milk?? I don't want to run to the doctor with every whim so wanted to run it by you first :-)

    I'm talking to my doc on Thurs cause my boob is trying to kill me! I get searing stabbing pains in my left breast and nipple. Like grab that bad boy and cry as I hold on for dear life and try not to puke. It tends to happen when I reach suddenly for something. Don't know if that's at all like what's happening to you but holy heck it is massively painful and I hope this isn't going to be a thing the rest of pregnancy/nursing.

    It's normal :) gotta love hormones,they are preparing themselves for the fun times yet to come ;)

    Sore boobs are normal or lightning bolts of make me want to hyperventilate pain is normal? I mean, technically yes, I hope there is nothing wrong with my breast, but owie! This seems like a crazy level of ridiculous to be normal! Maybe I'm just an uber wuss?

    I had this earlier maybe like beginning/middle of tri 2, and I called my doc- she said it was just my ducts preparing and completely normal. It sucked and hurt so badly I wanted to cry. It eventually went away and I haven't had it again. Hopefully it's just your boobs preparing to be milk machines. I wouldn't worry too much, but bring it up with your doctor. I used some lanolin on them when it got really bad and it helped. Also an ice pack helped a little bit. Good luck.

    Thanks @ashwise :) That's what I am hoping too, that lefty here is going to be a milky monster. The right one has just started to twinge but it doesn't do the crazy stuff lefty is up to.
    My mom said she had a hard time nursing and didn't produce well but my sister seemed to do just fine. I'm really hoping to be the best darn milkcow I can possibly be! If I can't breastfeed I won't beat myself up or anything but if this crazy boob pain means I will have a good supply then I'll take it!

    Having generalized pain in your boobs is pretty normal and yes, they're preparing to make milk. The milk ducts and all that increase during pregnancy so you'll be able to make milk for baby.

    Nothing wrong with mentioning to the doctor, especially pain in one spot, but chances are it's just your boobs getting for their new jobs as dairy machines!


    I've had some generalized and localized boob pain throughout my pregnancy, so I can't relate.

    Same here, mostly in my left. Hurts too much to sleep on my left side. My midwife said it was normal. Just my breasts getting ready for milk.
