Question for those who use Merlin Magic sleep suit

How easy is it to nurse when LO is in one of those? They look kind of like the Stay Puft marshmallow man. We had our first night without the swaddle last night, and it was . . . rough. Trying to decide if I should just power through a couple hard weeks, or overnight express that suit to my house, lol.

We do the halo sleep sack swaddle and just swaddle him with arms out - worked wonders
  • Loading the player...
  • We use the halo sleep sack swaddle, too, and last night we nixed the swaddle.  (We have the older version where you can completely remove the swaddle part.)  She woke up way more than usual, which is what I expected, but also makes for a tired mama at work today.

We went cold turkey with our son at this same age, I just can't remember how long it took him to go back to normal.
  • I love the Merlin suit! My milk dried up and I'm not able to nurse but they actually can move pretty well. I think it would be worth a shot. My baby sleeps great
  • Just curious why you are no longer swaddling - wondering when/if I should bite the bullet and do the same
  • I've read that 14 weeks is a good time to lose the swaddle.  They are starting to learn to roll over then, and you don't want them to roll in the swaddle and not have their arms available to push back over.

DD is not rolling all the way over onto her belly yet, but lately she can easily roll onto her side, and it makes me nervous to have her arms trapped.
  • Got it. I guess I'll start trying that then
  • I've only used the Merlin 5 nights so far. Four of them have been amazing. I'm a big fan.
  • I used it with my oldest, loved it.

We stopped swaddling bc LO started sucking his hands to soothe. He actually sleeps way longer wo his arms swaddled
  • My LO sleeps in a rock n play so she can't roll, which means I can keep her swaddled longer. But I'm not looking forward to the day she outgrows the rock n play!
  • I've been using it for a couple weeks now with my 10 week old and nursing hasn't been any issue - typically do it 2 times a night while wearing it.  I ordered another one today - big fan!
  • I love the Merlin! No issues nursing - there's a cut out at the neck so it stays away from baby's mouth.
  • I've been using it since LO was about 8 weeks and 12 lbs... No problems nursing at all. The only minor issue is that sometimes my LO doesn't burp as well with all of the padding- it usually takes an extra minute to get a good burp out of him.
  • How long do your LOs generally sleep with the suit? My LO was doing 7-8 hr stretches but the past week has been waking every 2-3 hrs and last night it was every hr. She seems to be startling herself awake. I don't know if it's worth the investment or if this is just a phase and will hopefully be sleeping through the night again.
  • Mine sleeps 8:00pm to 5:30am then a quick feed and back to sleep until 7:00.
