GD moms- a question

have any of you thrown up your meals? It's happened to me 3 times. I've taken my blood sugar each time and it's ranged from 95-115 so it's not hypoglycemia.

Not sure why it's happening except that maybe I've waited too long between my snack and next meal or that my snack was too simple (ex: almonds, cucumber and carrot slices)

Thoughts?

Re: GD moms- a question

  • Have not thrown up, but have definitely not felt good if it's past time to eat or I didn't have enough carbs. Not enough carbs can be a problem too... Did they tell you to have a carb at snack? I'm supposed to have 15 - 30 g at snack paired with protein/fat

  • I'm always taking a snack as soon as I draw my blood because I'm hungry in the morning especially right away!  Then I might have another snack an hour or two later before lunch.  Make sure you are getting 1-2 carb choices as @Ellmduro said!  Try a yogurt or granola/protein bar.

Check out this thread!  There are a ton of us in the early stages of GD testing now and seeing what works for us!  Hop on the board and you can see that everyone seems to be struggling with something different and we're giving each other advice!

  • I haven't had any trouble keeping food down. Is there something in common with the foods you ate and when you threw up? Might not have anything to do with GD but could be that you're just sick.
Regardless, I would call the doctor. Good luck.
  • I had this happen a couple of times in the week or two before I was diagnosed with GD, but everything has been under control since I adjusted my diet and started testing my blood sugar. If your blood sugar is normal when it happens, I'd be curious if something else was going on - or you're just having some fun third trimester morning sickness :(

    Hope you feel better!
