37+2 and today my lower belly feels quite squidgey an flabby but right above my belly button is rock solid! Last time I was checked he was head down just wondering if this is normal? Feeling loads of movements mainly of which are at the top aswel, my belly now looks like a boiled egg from where I'm standing! Lol

I'm 37+3 and yup my belly is soft and squishy on the bottom and rock hard on top. Baby's been head down this whole time, so I think it's just where I'm getting fat lol ETA it's been this way for a few weeks, I think it's really just the shape of how my body is carrying

  • So weird to see this post today, my husband and I just noticed the same thing yesterday! I don't think it was like that before very recently, though.. or maybe I just didn't notice? I'll be 37w tomorrow. I wonder if maybe that means LO'S head is in the pelvis? I don't know. It might not mean anything at all.

  • Mines super hard at the top too...babys back and bum I'm pretty sure!
  • Haha I am 36 weeks today and just noticed this!! It's definitely a change - just don't know what it means. Baby was head down at my appt on Friday, so I think he is still head down. I can also feel what I think is his little rump at the top of my stomach.
  • I'm 35+5 and my belly has been this way pretty much the entire pregnancy. I just figured it was jiggly fat at the bottom. ;))
  • mine does that a lot too. I read that Braxton hicks often affect just one part of your belly at a time, so that's probably what's causing the rock-hard part. that, or baby's bum :)
  • My little guy likes to stick his butt out for rubs and so I've been noticing the same thing.
  • Lol omg I cracked up ... I'm the same way too
  • My dr said that if its hard in one spot it's most likely the baby moving but when it's hard all over that's when it's Braxton Hicks. I'm usually hard on top, and that's where his feet/ butt are and when my lower pelvis is hard that's usually when I'm having a contraction
  • Mines like this because of all my stomach fat lmao the lower belly has been squishy the entire time cause that's where my weight all loves to go lol
  • Awwwww that's probably baby's bottom up there! Ever since my midwife showed me how baby was laying, in a previous visit, I can map out baby body parts much easier. Head is down and head takes up less room, hence it being squishier on your lower belly. From there you can follow baby's back and bottom (firm) and wherever you feel little knobby feet kicking you is where baby has their legs curled up in front of them. You can look up baby position pics and map baby out on your belly. It's so cool to get a visual like that!

  • Mine is definitely baby bottom at the top. The one night when baby dropped and came back up (or I think that is what she did), it did get very firm at the bottom and then back to soft.
Today on US, they confirmed it was her bottom that makes top of my stomach so hard.
  • Mines like that but I'm pretty sure it's just baby fat left from two previous pregnancies that gets pushed to the bottom lol.
  • Yep, and it's been like this the whole time.  At my last U/S, baby was head down, don't know if he still is.  But I'm "carrying high," in the words of the old wives' tales. My lower abdomen has been squishier all along, but that's also where I carried excess weight non-pregnant...classic pear shape.  So I'm always softer in the lower belly.
  • Im the same way, baby is very high right now. Can't wait for him to drop so I can breathe again.
