Hyperemesis Gravidarum

is there anyone else suffering from hyperemesis? I am nauseous and vomiting all day, every day, and it's stepped up recently to all night as well. I am on FIVE different medications for it, as well as trying all the natural remedies out there. I've been in hospital numerous times this pregnancy for fluid resus and I just feel so rubbish. I weigh less than I did before I got pregnant and am just so tired. Is there anyone else going through the same thing?

Re: Hyperemesis Gravidarum

  • My friend who is due in September has it. I could not imagine. She hasn't had any relief either. I really hope that's not the case with you and they figure out something that works for you. I'm not trying to make you feel worse! I am not sure if there are any boards on here on the topic but if you're on Facebook, there is one. Good luck momma!

  • I'm in the same boat- or I was a few weeks ago. I had lost over 10lbs at 10.5w and had been in the ER for fluids. It was horrible. I was on diclegis and zofran pills and then they added phenergan suppositories, but nothing helped.
My doctor set up home health for home IV hydration and I have had a subcutaneous zofran pump for the last 7 weeks. I still threw up, just not quite as much. After a week on zofran I could maintain my hydration orally and then this last week or so I started gaining weight. I still take diclegis, but I am weaning off zofran pump in hopes to switch to oral zofran.
There are some threads and great advice, search the high risk pregnancy board.
If your doctor won't help, I suggest finding another. Some women end up staying in the hospital on IV nutrition for months.

Two years, two losses and three IUIs...

  • Thanks guys. I have heard Kelley about the zofran pumps being pretty good. Unfortunately it's not a treatment that is really used here in NZ. But I plan on asking my OB about it next week. There has been talk of putting in a nasogastric tube if it doesn't get any better by the end of the month. I'm already a few days off 18weeks, with no sign of improvement :(
