Hi all I'm new on here. I'm currently 16+4 weeks. I am on bedrest as I have complete placenta previa. I have 3 girls 18,15 & 10 years old. All born very early at 27 weeks, 27 weeks, (angel baby boy, born asleep) 23+6 weeks & 26 weeks. So l knew it'd be a stressful pregnancy, just not this early. I was told at 5 weeks that baby had implanted on a previous c section scar & will probably have to terminate the pregnancy, I had to go back the following day for a scan with the consultant. He said it was just above & I could continue. since then I've had many bleeding episodes. I was told at 9 weeks I had an extremely large cyst on one of my ovaries, they said if it hasn't shrunk by my 12 week scan I may have to have surgery to remove it whilst I'm still pregnant. Well a week later I had large bleed with clots & my scan showed the cyst had popped & that's what the bleeding was. I then had more bleeding. On the 25th July I woke at 1:45am to what looked like a scene from a horror film. I had a major bleed, I woke my DH up & went to A & E they did bloods & kept me in. They did an internal & said that my os is open & my placenta was poking through it. I lost a lot of blood & was told I was having a miscarriage. The following day the bleeding had slowed down a little. They said I had to just wait & see & hope for a miracle. I had a scan 2days later. I was told my cervix has closed again & baby looked fine. I've been bleeding ever since & I'm on bedrest for the foreseeable future. I have to see my consultant every week now & if I keep bleeding the same as I have been they'll deliver baby at 23 / 24 weeks. I'm now counting down to 24 weeks as if I can get this far my baby stands a chance all be it a small one. I'm trying to stay positive. At least I know this baby is a fighter & made of strong stuff. Please keep everything crossed for me & I wish you all good luck xox
Re: Looks like I'm going to have a very prem baby scared
I unfortunately haven't gone through it personally, but I have heard that in many cases the placenta will move. A close friend of mine had complete placenta previa and it corrected itself by 22 weeks. She had a completely normal pregnancy after that.
I know the bed rest seems like forever. I was diagnosed with a short cervix and a large subchorionic hematoma at 15 1/2 weeks. I was put on bed rest until 24 weeks and told that because of both of my issues I had a very high risk of preterm labor. I'm happy to say I'm at 23 weeks, still sane and have a completely healthy baby that's still cooking! It gets better every week.
I really hope the placenta corrects itself before that 23 week mark. Just take it easy, watch lots of Netflix and enjoy the quiet time before your LO comes. I promise the time goes a lot faster than you think! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.
Hoping and praying for a healthy baby for you.
