Just had my membranes stripped

I had my membranes stripped at 9:30 today. I'm 40+6 today and ready to have this baby. The Dr. said if I don't have productive contractions by 2:00 today, he wants me to come in to have them swept again. I am glad he is trying this method rather than just inducing me. Let me tell you ladies that the process is uncomfortable, but doesn't last long- it seemed to be under a minute.I bled a bit after. Hoping this jump starts labor.     Everyone's experience is different. When I had mine swept with my first it hurt like hell. Glad it wasn't too bad for you.

    yeah, glad your sweep wasn't too bad.  I had mine done with my first when I was dilated to a 4.  not only did it do nothing, but it felt horrible.  The doc just kind of said " I am going to strip your membranes and we will have this baby tonight" I ended up 11 days overdue!  I hope your works for you and gets labor going.  FXFY!

    Good luck! My doctor didn't do a full sweep, but "stirred things up" down there at my appointment today because she was concerned that the migraines I'm having might be signs of impending preeclampsia (I was close to preeclamptic with DS). Aside from these headaches, I'll be fine if it doesn't work. But I'd be ready as hell by 40+6! FX for you!

    41 + 3 today and have them swept twice. Still no progress which is discouraging so now i go on the list.

    Good luck, i hope it's successful for you!

    I had my sweep yesterday at 41w. Midwife encouraged me to go sand and curb walking to get LO's head hitting my cervix and releasing more prosteglandins so hubby and i went off to the beach.

    I have to say the sweep was painful for me, i felt like i was going to simultaneously pass out and throw up! I just kept trying to focus on breathing through it and relaxing my muscles.

    Still no labout/baby 24 hours later but I'm remaining hopeful, she said she'd do another on Thursday as I'm booked in for 6.30pm induction Friday at 41+3. Despite the pain, I'd still prefer to give it another shot over induction!

    Had mine swept today. Uncomfortable but not painful. Fingers crossed it helps speed things along. I don't want to be induced, and that's scheduled for Monday, so I figure is worth a try
