2nd Trimester

Since being put on antibiotics my baby isn't moving as much

I've been put on antibiotics for bv and since I started the course I've not felt my baby move as much I am 24 weeks pregnant and before this every night when I led in bed she would really kick but now it's not as strong and also not as often I'm getting really worried I spoke to a midwife on the phone as I was also experiencing stomach cramps and they put it down to antibiotics and said they wouldn't see me :( I just don't understand why my baby has stopped moving as much

  • It could be the baby's position, and also the position of the placenta. If your concerned I would call back to see your OB.

  • At 24 weeks babies don't move regularly. There is still lots of room. They can turn and face your spine and that makes it hard to feel movement. Also they are sleeping over 12hrs a day at this time. Usually closer to 28-30 weeks you will feel constant/regular movement. As long as you are feeling some movement you should be okay. If you are really concern call them again and see if they have suggestions.
  • Baby's have off days too. The same way we, as adults have days where we are tired and sluggish. Plus like PP said, baby could have changed position, not to mention fetal movement shouldn't be regular until 28 weeks. I see no reason to worry.
