Night 2 with no swaddle - success!

We had a much better night last night without the swaddle than we had the first night.  Slept for 8 hours, woke to eat, and then back down for another 3.  Yay!

Of course my 4 yo came into our room at 3:00 in the morning crying of a stomachache and was up for the rest of the night, so I didn't get much sleep anyway, but at least we only had to deal with 1 non-sleeper instead of 2!

  • That's so great! Gives me hope to get rid of our swaddle... I hate that we have all of these pj's that are being wasted because it's too warm for both. We won't stop yet... want to really establish as good of a sleep routine as we can, and she's not even close to rolling, but once we do I'll be a little less terrified.

  • That's awesome! My girl isn't rolling yet but I think she's close. Did you quit cold turkey?

Yes, cold turkey.  She's been in the Halo sleep sack swaddle, so we just took the swaddle off and kept her in the sleep sack.

We are using a sleep sack too. I think this weekend we'll give it a shot and see what happens. I don't want to chance it during the week. I'm already a zombie at work.

On Monday mornings I splurge on a triple shot latte on the way to work, so I figured Sunday night was a good night to start. :)
  • So happy for you! We've been doing few naps without swaddling but not planned, we'd be out and it would be too warm for swaddling, im planning on unswaddling her while she's asleep a few times to see what happens but we have a super jumpy baby so idk how it'll go! She's rolling frim back to tummy
  • I tried the Halo sleep sack with arms out last night. He woke up almost every hour. Back in the swaddle it is for now...

That's kind of how our first night was.  I would recommend trying one more night to see if it gets any better.  I was surprised at how much better it was the second night.
  • Yay! Same here! 3 successful nights with the sleepsack and arms out. Annnnd in her own room and crib! She still wakes for her night feeding, but she did that swaddled. She started rolling on her stomach so I was super paranoid and went cold turkey. I'm still waking up and staring at the monitor to make sure she's breathing though, but I'm a little crazy, I'm sure I'll adjust soon....
