Infertility

Sept 28 Retrieval... Anyone else IVFing Sept/Early October?

I am officially out, which of course means we are on to IVF.  While we planned for this we hoped that a few months off would be our lucky charm.

I am hoping that this can be a thread where I can find some gals experiencing the same sort of things around the same time and a place for encouragement in general.  That being said, my name is Jessica and here are a few details about our journey so far.  :)

TTC: 2 years
Me:  33 - unexplained infertility
DH:  31 - <3% morphology --other numbers really good
Living in Phoenix with our pride and joy -- Olive the wonder dog!
So far:
Feb - May - 3 failed IUI
50mg clomid 1 mature follie
100mg clomid 2 mature
100mg clomid 2 mature
June - July --going natural
Aug 10:  baseline ultrasound, meds meeting with nurse (most likely, will have to call to schedule first thing Monday morning)
Aug 28: begin injectables
Sept 28: retrieval
Oct 2: transfer
This of course is all based on the plan RE outlined in May, looking forward to getting more accurate information in the next few days.

Re: Sept 28 Retrieval... Anyone else IVFing Sept/Early October?

  • Good luck on your IVF journey! I will tell you in the beginning it's such an overwhelming experience, the meds, the monitoring appts, the retrieval and the waiting. But it gets easier day by day. After the 3-4th day of stims you will be a pro. I won't even tell you to relax and not stress because honestly it's not even possible lol. We are in the 2ww of our second fresh cycle so if you need any advice or daily encouragement please feel free to reach out.

  • Good luck on your IVF journey. It is overwhelming but day by day the injections get better. The hardest part to me is the emotional roller coaster. I wish you the best of luck!

  • Hope all goes well. I just started my first IVF cycle. I am on day 8 of stim injections. The injections are not bad. I just feel like I am on a roller coaster. I have been working full time so that keeps my mind occupied.
TTC for ever it feels like.
Me: 36yo with 1 scarred Fallopian tube. I have suffered more than a hand full of ectopics (one took my other tube)
  • I'll be starting stims in less than a week (should be about 6 days based on my estimates - just wtg for AF). This is our first IVF cycle as well and we are anticipating a transfer date in early Sept.
Me -34 with APS (blood clotting disorder)
DH -33 with very low mot and morph
We have been TTC for about 2 years... All natural until now.
Already have my meds and am dying to get started! Our cycles won't be too far apart. I am looking for others to share with as well!
  • @Cupcakegal930 thank you for the encouragement and insight. Is your wait almost over? Good luck to you, hoping a positive test is in your near future - Keeper posted!

@MKLEWIS2010 thank you, thank you, thank you! You are always so positive and helpful! So, so happy you are expecting! We'll miss you when you move boards, but Wishing you a healthy 9 months!

@MelenaZ - good luck, I've heard those stims can be brutal. I'm excited to hear how you reacted, keep us posted!

@KareChristine isn't it amazing how we go from hoping AF doesn't come to cheering for her arrival! That's what I am (still) doing too, but instead of going right to stims I'm going on birth control. I guess to suppress to help generate more for retrieval - very counter-initiative to me! Oh well, I'm just happy to get the process going.
  • Thanks @Jav5y2.  I will stay connected with you guys, I am hoping to see more successful stories :)

  • Its definitely a change to be routing for AF. Although we gave it one last shot naturally this month (I call it one last shot before all the shots!). I can't go on BC to suppress because of the increased clotting risk... Was told this might decrease the amount of eggs we get but better to be safe than sorry . 4 days hopefully until AF!! I will stay connected as well. Good luck everyone!
  • Hi everyone. Thanks for sharing your stories. I start the stims on Friday. I had one unsuccessful IUI and we have decided to move on to IVF. I'm 38. Unexplained infertility. I feel a little overwhelmed with the whole process. I'm hoping it gets easier as I go along. :)
  • Hey @Joyzie77! Good luck tomorrow!

AF finally came & saw my RE for my baseline numbers. But was encouraging, I had lots of possibilities and my Dr. Thinks that based on past treatments that I should respond well. FX for that! So I'm on birth control now & waiting for my schedule to get things rolling.

  • @jav5y2 - how long did they say you will be on birth control?   I am still counting down to my period.  It is supposed to start tomorrow but I have a bad feeling it is going to be late (am wondering if it has something to do with polyp removal).   Anyway, if you're not on birth control long and AF is late for me, we will be starting stims about the same time!
  • @KareChristine Not exactly sure how long I'll be on birth control. When we spoke to our RE in May he said injections would be started 28 Aug, but he told me Wednesday to look for my schedule via email. Haven't gotten it yet. But I think that is still the plan. I would love it if we had a really close schedule!

How you getting along, still waiting?
  • We are looking at a September retrieval and transfer. Just waiting on my period (due in a week) to do my baseline and start stimulation. My husband and I have children from a previous marriage and are both sterilized. We want our own children so we are doing IVF. To my and my RE surprise, since starting testing in early July, I have been diagnosed with PCOS. They don't know how I ever got pregnant on my own. Now they have put me on 1,500mg of Metformin a night. It makes me feel so sick.
  • @jav5y2 I am on my last round of IUI (#3); currently in the glorious 2ww lol.
If this round doesn't work, we will be moving on to a Sept/Oct IVF cycle. Don't have the dates finalized. Appointment with the RE if my beta comes back negative on Aug 28. (Praying its positive [-O< )
But if it's not, I will be on a similar cycle as you, just a little behind.
My and my husbands results are pretty similar to your situation. I'm unexplained fertility (but respond very well to Clomid); my husband has great numbers all around, but <4% morphology.
We will see what the next 2 weeks bring us.

Good luck with your new IVF cycle! Percentages are so much higher with IVF; hopefully you get your BFP!

  • @athompson0308 great! Hope AF comes quickly & you can get started! Can't wait to hear updates!

@Colleen0516 FX you get BFP and won't have to worry about updating us here! I read about your acupuncture on another thread. I've toyed with doing that for a while now but haven't pulled the trigger. Would it be to late to start now?
  • @jav5y2 Nope not at all! You early your IVF cycle, so you're still fine! You can start whenever you want to. My dr. likes to start at the beginning of the cycle, but there is no harm starting mid cycle.
The acupuncture helps prepare the uterus. It can help with blood flow, lining, follicle grow. I noticed a great change from last month to this month.

  • @jav5y2 - AF came yesterday... Yay! I had b/w and u/s this morning and if all looks well, I will start stims tonight. So I am a little ahead of you but it's for the best since I was about to lose my mind waiting : )
Aug. 28th is less than two weeks away for you!
  • Started stims tonight. Here we go!
  • @Colleen0516 .... Hope you get a BFP this cycle. My husband and I couldn't decide easily if we should do ivf or iui this time but chose Ivf because of the percentages.
  • @Joyzie77 good luck to you! We did three cycles if IUI... I wish we would've jumped right to IVF!

I got my schedule last night... Looks like it will be a month before I even start stimming :(, waiting is the story of my life so it seems.
    9 sept - start Lupton
    13 sept - day 1 stim
    30 sept - ER
    5 oct - day 5 transfer

Did I also mention I was experiencing a personal baby boom this weekend? 3 girls, 1 boy. One from a cousin, two from friends and the last (literally any minute now) from my bestie (other bestie due with #2 Dec). It started fun enough (baby names, hair color & such), but seeing my schedule last night made me really sad. These babies will be close to a year before I am holding onto my own (counting on #1 to work), while I am trying to keep it in perspective -knowing that we are closer to a baby now more than ever - I can't help but being sad.
    ---just needed to vent that.
