Any vision changes or dry eyes for anyone?

I typically wear contacts for nearsightedness and have noticed that my eyes have been really dry and I'm not seeing as well. I feel much more comfortable with my glasses nowadays. After DD1, I felt like my eyesight had worsened a bit but can't be sure if it was due to the pregnancy or to a normal increase in nearsightedness over time. I kind of freaked out about it and went to opthamologist in March and she measured my vision and kept me at my old prescription (-8 for contacts). Now that I'm pregnant again I feel like my eyes are dry and I'm not seeing as well but again, I'm not sure if it's pregnancy related or not. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also, found out today that DD (17 months now) is a -1.00 and will need glasses by age 3. I'm very sad about that but glad it's not anything worse.

    This happened to me with DS (dry eyes and slightly worse vision) and is happening again with this LO.  My eye doctor didn't seem overly concerned and said these changes are common with pregnancy.

    This happened to me with my daughter.
    I had LASIK eye surgery when I was 19. After giving birth at 30 my eyes started getting bad and I needed a light prescription about a year after she was born. I was told since I had it at a young age that my eyesight might start going back one day and sure enough it did when I got pregnant.

    It's a common pregnancy symptom, but you should always mention vision changes to your OB, as it can sometimes be a symptom of pre-e. 

    This just reminded me that I need to set up an eye appointment, though. I'm long overdue & my vision sucks in general.

    @Elyse1384 Did your eyes and vision ever go back to normal or did it stay dry and worse? Do you remember how much your prescription changed?

    @Pontot31 thanks for your reply. Same question above for you although it seems like your pregnancy kickstarted your vision regression and it hasn't reverted. Is that right? At least you have a very low prescription! I am a -8 in contacts and I don't qualify for LASIK :-/ I hope they make long strides in the research so that I can eventually correct my nearsightedness.

    I wear glasses normally for driving, reading and watching tv. My vision isn't horrible, but it isn't the best either. During the third trimester with my first, my vision started getting super blurry and I had to wear my glasses 24/7 for the last 8 weeks. Same thing is happening this time around. No signs of pre-e or any other problems here. My vision went back to normal after I gave birth.

    Pregnancy did kick start my vision changes. My eye doctor says he sees it with most of his new mom patients. They notice after the baby that their vision isn't as clear. I had dry eyes during pregnancy and then right after giving birth I noticed things just weren't as crisp. One eye got slightly worse about a year later but both are still low. I'm anticipating needed a new Rx again after this baby.

    My eyes are always much dryer and itchier when I am pregnant, but they mostly go back after giving birth.

    I have had two different eye doctors that have told me they won't see me for prescription changes until 3 or 4 months after I give birth because eye sight does change during pregnancy. My eyes have actually gotten better. Four or five more kids and I may just have perfect vision :)

    lopezalonso  - My vision went back to normal not long after I gave birth.  To be honest I'm blanking on the exact change, but my eye doctor noted that it was a small enough change that while annoying I didn't have to get a new prescription. I alternate between glasses and contacts and he highly recommended I keep my eyes moist with drops to ease the discomfort.  I only found temporary relief with that, so sadly I'm just sticking it out with this LO too.

    I definitely notice a change with DD1. My eye doctor had me come in but didn't change my prescription permanently until after I was done breastfeeding and my body was completely back to normal. My vision didn't get better- it was a permanent change. She said it's more common that it will go back to normal, but for some lucky ladies, it is permanent. Lucky me.

    This time around I haven't had any changes yet though, so I'm hoping it stays that way :)

    My eyes definitely changed while pregnant with DD but it was more pressure or shape of my eye not vision. I had glasses as backups. My eyes eventually went back to normal with no rx change.

    @CarrieOct15 I'll make sure to tell my OB although I don't have any pre-e symptoms other than the visual stuff. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories. It helps to normalize this for me and make me feel less alone. Thank goodness it's just vision changes that can be corrected and not anything worse. My high prescription and inability to get LASIK kind of freak me out sometimes but I think it may just be more anxiety than anything.

    I've had multiple eye surgeries as a kid because of cateracts. And with my first and this pregnancy I do have times where my vision will suddenly go blurry. It sucks cuz I have to sit back at work until everything is not blurry anymore.

    No dry eyes here, but I have noticed my vision seems a bit worse than usual. I wear glasses for distance and have been noticing myself squinting a bit, especially while driving in the dark. I read that this can happen during pregnancy and that the vision often returns to normal, so I'm holding off on seeing the eye doctor for a new prescription until after the little one arrives.

    My eyes are regularly dry and red, vision blurts a bit when this happens Eye Doctor check me and agreed they dry put not allergies, just something irritating me. She prescribed some drops which work wonderful.
