Waking up to eat in nighttime - HELP!!

so my doctor said to no longer wake my breastfed LO in the night. I'm totally happy and content about that. However, my question for breastfed moms at this point is - want time do you put baby to bed and stop waking them up? Our last feeding usually happens between 8-9 with my LO falling asleep around 9:30-10... Obviously this time frame varies.. He doesn't wake again until 2-3 A.M. Is this too much time in between or should I do one more feeding between 10-11 to ensure he gets that extra feeding or is 8-9 ok for last feeding for one month old? Thanks so much!!!

  • My DD is 5 weeks old and she does exactly that. Her last feeding is anywhere between 7:30 and 9:30. We put her down about a half hour to an hour after she eats (when she starts to get sleepy) and she sleeps until 3/3:30. It's wonderful!!! Enjoy the sleep! I should add that she eats consistently every 2 hours during the day (from 6:30/7:00 on) so I know she's eating plenty to have such a long stretch.

  • If your LO is having an adequate amount of wet diapers and is gaining weight then I would not wake them. My LO will eat more frequently during the day, but at night will go 3-5 hours between feeds. He is healthy so I just let him sleep
  • My baby girl is 3 weeks old on Thursday. She eats about every 3 hours during the day. Her last feeding usually ends up being around 10 and she will usually sleep until 3. After the 3 feeding she usually goes back to her 3 hour cycle.
  • Omg just thank your lucky stars they're already sleeping so long, no need to wake!
  • They wake of they are hungry. My little girl goes to bed 9am and wakes around 3am for another feed. Gaining weight well so she is fine. I would only wake if they aren't gaining weight or you want to up your milk supply of breastfeeding.
  • My son eats between 8 pm and 10 pm and will wake for eating between 2am and 3:30am. DH feeds a bottle of breastmilk and I pump. I get about 8oz total pumping at this time! And the long stretch of sleep is great!

My LO started sleeping longer stretches too. She woke up at 2:30 last night to eat, back to sleep at 4am, and is still sleeping at 8am! Totally worried me bc she used to wake every 2 hours! Very thankful for the sleep though :)
