Second Time+ Moms: Experience with Belly Binding?

Has anyone ever tried postpartum belly binding before? I know I have a long way to go until I have to decide, but I've been tossing around the idea of trying it after this pregnancy. I got SO huge with DD2 and ended up with major back pain and diastasis recti. Basically, my core was destroyed.

But there is sooooo much information in a basic google search, I'm wondering if anyone can share real-life experience. Best brand? Did you wear it 24/7? Did it actually help? TIA!

Re: Second Time+ Moms: Experience with Belly Binding?

  • I put one on right when I got home from the hospital. I think it helped tremendously and planned on using it again after baby #2. Some people say you can put them on right away but I decided to wait until I got home to rest a little.  It does make it hard to breathe sometimes (I tried to do it as tight as possible) but I think it's well worth it.  I actually wish I put it on for longer but DD was born in June and I just couldn't handle the sweat. I would put it on for two days, then off one (or two days) to wash and dry it. I used Bamboo Belly Bandit.

  • I used a belly bandit and used right after my section and it helped tremendously with my healing and getting back in shape quickly.
  • I used both the belly band and the one that went on your hips and I HUGELY recommend it. I'll definitely do it again. I don't honestly know if it made a difference in things bouncing  back quickly (even though they did) but I really loved the added core strength it gave me at a time when I obviously had none. I felt like it really helped suck everything in and hold me upright which was so necessary in sort of getting back into a routine of good posture and core stability.
  • Oh and I didn't wear it to sleep but wore it pretty regularly during the day for the first 2-3 weeks.
  • I wore a postpartum girdle, from a primarily Mexican company called Ardis and it was like a huge one piece that had big thick straps and made for back support as well. It helped so much. I went back to my regular size within like 4 weeks. The most important thing that it helped with though was putting everything in my belly back into place while my uterus shrunk.
  • I have the belly bandit and started wearing it a few hours after I had DD. I definitely think it helped everything shrink back into place a little faster.

  • I wrapped post pregnancy with my lady pregnancy and I absolutely loved it. Not only did it help support my core but I believe it helped me get back to my pre pregnancy body quicker :)
