Postpartum bleeding!! TMI

I had a cesarean on the 5th of August. My bleeding has been slowly tapering off until today. All of a sudden today, I got a huge gush of dark red blood and clots while sitting outside. I eased my way inside and sat there gushing for about 4mins. I felt it lighten up, so changed my pad again and went to sit in my recliner. Came to bed about 2hrs later and had the same gush feeling. Again, bled for a good 4-5mins sitting on the toilet. Laying in bed again and it's happening now, but I'm afraid to move for fear it will overload my pad while I'm climbing out of bed. I'm trying to decide if I should call my on-call OB or not. This is my 4th c-section, but I've never had this happen before. Have any of you experienced this? I googled it and have read anything from normal to life threatening and don't want to scare myself unnecessarily.

    I would definitely call.. I did not have this with a vaginal or csection birth. I'm not sure you're suppose to be "gushing" blood..

    I would absolutely call immediately. My doctor said not to wait and go to the hospital if that happened to me.

    I would call. Unless you really picked up with activity and that could be the cause of extra bleeding. Otherwise that doesn't sound normal to me.

    They told me to lay down and "relax". If it's not any better in a few hours, then go to L&D. I didn't do anything extra today, but my BP has been higher today for some reason. Come 2am, if I'm still bleeding heavy, I have to go in. Thanks for all the responses. It's now waiting time!

    I hope everything turns out well and that the bleeding slows down soon! Take care of yourself and get some rest.

    thoughts and prayers.  That's really scary to me.  From what I remember they told me that when I went home if I completely "soaked" more than 2 pads in an hour that I should be checked. ( and you are 13 days post partum?)  Also clots can be scary (were they big?)  I have never had a C-section though, so I don't know if the protocol is different.  I am glad you called the Doctor, and you have lots of thoughts and prayers coming from me that everything will be ok!

    Yes, definitely call. I was told if it's any heavier than a menstrual period then that is not normal and I need to call right away.

    @chavemann10 I didn't have a c-section but I bled SO much that I used depends at night and I'm not even embarrassed to say it!!! The first time my super expensive WHITE sheets that cannot be washed on hot or sanitary cycles got drenched in blood, I told my husband depends were a must, and they were a life saver!

    I hope everything is okay. Is it possible to have retained placenta with a c-section? I am so happy you went in and am sending prayers your way!

    Thanks ladies! Relaxing is hard for me...I'm not that type of person, especially after having been on bed rest for a month prior. Looks like I have to trust DH to go grocery shopping alone tonight.
