I'm trying to pass the time waiting for DD to get here...so I just wanted some opinions on baby wraps. I asked for one for my shower and didn't get it, now I'm wondering if the one I asked for (Boba) is the one I really want. They seem to all be about the same and within a few dollars of each other so any recommendations would be great!

I have the Moby wrap. I like it, it is just a hassle to put on when I'm out in public (there is so much fabric, it's hard to keep it off the ground!). I have decided I think I like the ring slings better. They are easier to put the baby in when out and about and running errands. My friend has loaned me hers, but she needs it back so now I'm trying to figure out when to get a nice affordable ring sling.

I like the moby (I only wear my babies when they're super small-other than that I'm a stroller mom) but it's too heavy in this heat. I went with a local wrap company called solly baby and they are amazing! They're basically a lighter version of the moby with some great print.

I haven't been able to use mine yet since this little one is still way too comfy in there, but check out happybabywrap.com - doesn't trap the heat and they are super cute! They're a little more expensive than commercially available wraps, though, so something to think about if you're on a strict budget.

I love my Moby, (it is hard to keep it off the ground when you put it on) I had a ring sling too, but didn't feel that the baby was as well supported with chin off of chest. My husband insists that the Moby is too hot to wear. But he also thinks that clothes are too hot to wear during the summer (LOL)

I loved my moby and LOs really responded to the cuddle of it. One thing is that the moby and wrap styles are warm to wear. If you're on walks, the moby in the summer will be really warm (it doesn't vent at all). For first baby I could get by with the moby but this time around we bought an ergo. DH used the moby too but expressed that he wanted something more user friendly. With having toddlers and needing to babywear more, I think the ergo will be a better fit and more supportive on walks and shopping.

I'm on the Moby train, as well. I loved using it with DS when he was an infant, and I had him in mid-July. We have A/C in our house, and I don't remember being too hot, but I also didn't wear it outside the house a lot aside from the grocery store or other stores that also have A/C. It is super long and a little difficult to wrap without dragging it across the floor/ground. I also just got a Beco Soleil carrier that I'm excited to try out.

I love my moby for when theyre little, but if you plan on babywearing for an extended time maybe consider a ring sling, woven wrap, or a soft structured carrier. They tend to be able to be used for a lot longer since theres not as small of a weight limit.

I am going to add to this line up of moby users. I find it to be very comfortable, as it distributes the babies weight evenly across your shoulders instead of killing your posture (I've found that my shoulders and upper back aren't quite right after using slings). I also feel that baby is secure in there, and in a very natural position.

I hated the moby! Too much material and too hot for me. A friend gave me her Boba wrap, which gets great reviews, so I'm looking forward to trying it. I know people with Solly wraps that love them, too.

We have an ergo 360 and a boba wrap. I've heard the solly is a lot lighter for the summer than the boba but it costs twice as much and I can't really justify the purchase so hopefully it cools off here soon. I'm starting to think a nice linen ring sling might be the way to go.

Not sure why I'm bothering to chime in yet. FTM, LO isn't here, so I have zero baby-wearing experience myself. But my new mom girlfriends all use ring slings and LOVE them. I'm in a couple different facebook groups for ring sling-wearers and from what I've seen, it looks like they can be worn this way from newborn all the way up until 4 years old. Something else to look at and think about!

Well I live in Texas so the heat is a huge factor here. The only question I have about the ring sling ones is if they are good for infants? It just seems like they would be uncomfortable in there. I plan on using one for instances where I don't want to lug a car seat around...like the grocery store, family outings, etc.

@j&gmiller2015 honestly, I have the same concern, it seems to me that there wouldn't be enough support?! But I've definitely seen photos of newborns in the slings. Like I said, I'm purely going by second-hand advice at this point (and we all know how good that can be...) but if you're interested in looking some more, the one facebook group I'm a part of that has LOTS of photo sharers (and the owner/creator posts baby wearing tutorial videos and such) is called Vienna Springs. Depending on where you live, there may be a Babywearing International chapter close by, I've heard that they hold events where you can go get more information and try out different baby-wearing techniques/options. I'd guess it varies from person to person and from baby to baby what works best for you!

I have the ergo. I LOVE it. The newborn insert is very warm though... I liked it when DS could use it without it (12 pounds?)

Ring slings are safe for newborns as long as theyre being used correctly, just like all baby carriers need to be used correctly. I could never quite get the hang of my ring sling with my first but Im going to try again with this baby. If youre anywhere near a Babywearing International group, they usually have a ton of different types of carriers that they'd love to let you try.

Following...I have a $50 gift card that I reserved for a carrier, but wasnt sure whether I wanted one or not. After our trip to the store yesterday I for sure want one! I had been looking at the boba.
