Jaundice- Could use some prayers UPDATE in original post

I noticed that my DS's eyes looked a little yellow today, so I brought him to the doctor. We were admitted to the hospital with jaundice. I'm struggling. I know this is pretty common and that it will be okay, but it is still hard to see my baby sick. Any thoughts or prayers would be appreciated. Thanks!

We are home!! Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers! I literally sat in his hospital room and ugly cried when reading all of your kind words! It really meant a lot to me to see all of your supoort. DS is much better and we are happy to be home once again!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and baby. My baby has jaundice too and almost didn't leave the hospital. However, I did everything of what the doctors told me to do and now she is getting better. I hope your baby leaves hospital soon. I am breast feeding her when she wants and near a window during day, so she can have sun shinning on her for fifteen minutes or more. The more you breast feed the more the baby shouldn't poop. The more the baby poops the more the liver will empty everything out and regulates the bilirubin. Good luck mama. I know it's hard to see your precious bundle of joy in hospital.

My first had this , they kept her under the lights at the hospital for a few days and I was there to breastfeed her for every feeding. She turned out just fine. Good luck mama, everything will be fine!T&p's

We are currently going through the same thing. I know it's scary but the hospital is the best place for him to be, the billi lights did wonders for my LO and our doctor says there are no negative side effects or drawbacks. It was great you could notice a change in him and get to your pedi! Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery!

Praying for you. I know how upsetting it is seeing your little one get sick and not being able to do anything about it. It's sucks. Just hang in there and be strong for your baby. Oh and make sure you give your little one tons of extra snuggles and kisses.

Weird, my baby was jaundice yesterday - I called the on call doc and she said as long as I keep feeding her and she is still pooping and peeing I don't have to take her to the ER. I am taking her in today though to get checked out by her ped. I was so worried yesterday. I hope your LO gets better soon!

Baby boy had it and needed phototherapy for 2 days. It is very common. Seeing him under the lights with the little mask on made me sad but he slept peacefully the whole time and before we knew it, it was all done.

My baby and I spent two nights in the hospital for this very reason. I noticed his eyes took him in and didn't leave for 2 days. They sleep, eat and poop then they are released. Nothing to stress over (I say this now, but I too STRESSED the whole time he was in that damn box) I understand momma! Hang in there

Yep, we've been dealing with that too. It's hard, but SO common, and keep in mind, (*I'm not a doctor*) that docs aggressively treat jaundice at levels WAY lower than what could actually cause long-term damage. If your doc doesn't seem terribly worried, odds are you don't need to be terribly worried either. Good luck! You'll get through it and then it will all just be a fading memory.

We noticed the change in eyes when we got home from the hospital. We were back and forth to the hospital the next two days, but they didn't keep him. We weren't getting much poop and were told he could be hospitalized if not improved the next day. So, I pumped and fed from a bottle so I could measure/up his intake. Worked like a charm to get the poop going and the levels down.
