Unscented diapers??? HELP/ Vent!

I am just now exploring U.S. diaper brands for the first time, and while I love the way Pamper Swaddlers work/ fit, I CANNOT stand that smell!! The chemically faux baby powder smell drives me crazy, and I can't stand the way it sticks to my hands/ diaper bag if I put some in there, and mostly, the way she reeks of that smell when she's wearing them instead of her amazing baby smell! Then I tried Huggies, which were fine except the cinched back didn't fit her as well, and then I tried Luvs-- and THAT SMELL!! Not as strong as the Swaddlers but still made me want to gag.

Help! Are all the Pampers diapers scented or just Swaddlers? Which type of Huggies fit your LO best? Which of the smaller brands are or aren't scented?

I can't handle opening another package of diapers and wanting to chuck them straight in the trash. Please don't comment about how you love that smell haha I am aware to be in business someone must but I will not be convinced, and I'm not crazy about all the crap they're putting in the diaper to make it "smell good" either. Seriously I never opened a package of diapers that was scented in Europe, and that's between 2 countries and some 4 brands across 2 sizes... including Pampers in France! Why did someone decided American babies need scented diapers?? And why aren't they required to MARK their packages as such? And please please let me know which brands and types I can use to avoid it!

  • We use Up & Up (Target) and Honest, and neither has a smell that I notice.
  • Loading the player...
  • Have you looked into The Honest Co. diapers?  Unscented, eco-friendly, free from chemicals, etc.  We use them, and there is no artificial baby powder smell.  You can purchase them online or at Target or Buy Buy Baby.
  • I agree, the pampers smell is starting to get to me too! It smells bad! I don't have swaddlers. I actually didn't have a problem with the smell until I switched from Swaddlers to regular. I keep thinking LO pooped and then I realize, nope it's still the diaper smell.

We do honest. Ends up being cheaper than Huggies or pampers because we do the bundle and get wiped with it.

Hmm Ive never heard of scented diapers! (Canada) we use Huggies though, always have

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • Honest Company bundles are our choice! We have never used anything else... A smell would drive me nuts, especially not knowing what chemicals are used to create that scent!
  • I was gifted one pack of honest, and I hated the fit... there was no "fitted" quality to them... they just seemed like big squares to me.

    Just another opinion.
  • We use cloth 75% of the time and Honest company. No scent used for their diapers and with their bundle deal it works out to a decent price per diaper.
  • I agree, I can't stand the smell of the pampers diapers which is fine by me cuz I prefer the huggies, but I also agree with previous posters on honest company. I loved those diapers but they are too costly for me to justify.
  • We are in Canada but we love the Kirkland brand from Costco ... I hated the smell of Huggies and pampers and I don't notice a smell with the Kirklands
  • I cloth diaper, but when I use disposables I buy the 7th generation brand. Maybe a buck or two more per pack than swaddlers. I love that they have no coloring or scents and I think they are biodegradable- sorry, too busy to check (read: nursing)
  • @TBSquared @Ladyblood which Huggies do you use? I am overwhelmed by how there are like six different types. Are any of them non-cinched back?

Honest Company does look adorable and love the chemical-free but ouch they are pricey... even the "free samples" are $6 S&H for 6... I might go that route if I can't find something cheaper that works well too but for now I'll try the Kirkland and some more varieties of Huggies I guess?

  • We order seventh generation through Amazon Mom which is way less expensive than Honest Co. and shipped free every month. No smell. I can't stand the smell of Pampers, we bought one box and used two diapers out of it.
  • Check into pampers sensitive. They may be unscented. I'm pretty sure the sensitive wipes that we had were.
  • I'm not even sure what smell you are all talking about...haha
  • I use Huggies snug and fit. Haven't come into contact with scented diapers yet. I tried Honest but the size was off. They seemed to run a bit smaller than other brands.
  • I liked honest co. And love babyganics both unscented

We use the little snugglers but they have that cinched back you don't like. We also tried the snug and dry but I don't remember if they were cinched in the back or not.

Little smugglers were costing me more $ than honest bundles. And my baby leaked right through them. I couldn't handle the pampers because they smell like perfume!

    Really?

Really? I've done the math and I spend approximately 25-30 cents a diaper buying huggies little snugglers and huggies natural care wipes for about 3 cents a piece. I never actually did the math for honest company diapers just seen the prices at target. I'd love to use honest company if I could justify the cost or if it were really cheaper.

I did the math about two months ago and if you do the bundle from honest, they're cheaper than little snugglers. Idk if Huggies prices differ in differ t parts of the country though.... I'm in NY. Also you can't beat the automatic delivery of diapers! Their wipes are all natural so I use them on baby's face without worrying :)
  • Honest or babyganics. Both organic and smell free
  • I use Earth's Best through Amazon Mom and so far they've been great! I also noticed that they feel MUCH drier than Pampers Swaddlers even when full.
  • For what it's worth, my cloth diapers smell great! And when I put disposables on my LO the chemical smell does get to me. I never noticed it before this though.
  • I agree with a PP that I'm pretty sure the pampers sensitive is fragrance free because I noticed a difference using them, I think it comes in sensitive in the swaddlers kind too
