silly question

Not sure if this has been asked before but if you get sick, do you call your ob or primary care doc? I think I'm coming down with the virus my son just had and am just curious who to call if I need to

Re: silly question

  • I tend to check with my OB first.

  • I went to my primary. He sent me to labor and delivery since I'm over 20 weeks. I'm actually in the waiting room now. Best of luck!
  • When I was sick I went to my primary. I had severe allergies/eustachian tube dysfunction and was prescribed category B drugs. Before I filled them I checked with my OB and just went over what happened to make sure he was cool with it all. But since it wasn't his specialty, I didn't want to waste his time with it.
  • Your primary. Make sure he/she knows your pregnant and is/can be in contact with your OB if necessary. Most OBs won't treat you for colds/viruses.
  • I checked in with my ob just to let them know and they gave me some tips and let me know when an appointment would be necessary. Thanks!
@meansallison I hope everything is okay!
  • @Addy1227 thanks, everything's good. Just fever and a cold oh joy. Seems silly to go to labor and delivery for that but that's my docs policy.
  • I've gone to my OB. But that's because I got lucky with my OB, and he's both my doctor and an OB. He was also my childhood doctor! Which was a bit weird at first. :)) But I've gotten over it! But I would suggest going to a primary, or just a basic doctor at first. Because sometimes, just a doctor alone can recommend someone for you to go to!
