Multiples Check In August 16th

Hi ladies. I haven't posted in a bit and only found the check in from the 12th, so I figured I would try to post a new one. I love checking in with you all, and feel that we are a very kind and supportive group. also, I don't know about you, but I am starting to really see that a multiple pregnancy is often pretty different then singles!! It's so much harder !!!
I am 18 weeks today, and have had it pretty rough the last week. I have been having bad round ligament pain in my groin, leaving me stranded resting on the couch. Every time I get up to do a little something such as housework, after 30min or so, maybe an hour I start to feel a burning pain and have to sit and rest before the bad pain kicks in. Then I find that I am getting winded easily - my shower today left me feeling like I had run laps. After that I had nothing in me to even try to do my hair or put a little makeup on. I've also been waking up in the middle of the night, and for the past two nights have a soreness and pain in my back that won't let me get comfortable in any position. I am starting to worry that if I am struggling this early, how bad is the rest of the pregnancy going to be?

How is it going for you ladies?

  • @NenaB54 I can completely relate. I am 18 weeks and 1 day and although I am not having round ligament pain, I am having pain in my back on the left side. I am winded easily, especially while talking to clients. It's so weird, I run out of breath when I am explaining things to them which normally is around 2-3 mins straight of talking before I stop and see if they have any questions. I also feel like I have gained so much weight this week that I am afraid to weigh myself. My right wrist is sore from typing and using the mouse. I bought a mouse pad but I still feel slight pain. I'm not sleeping well either and I'm always tired. All I want to do it lie around. I wasn't this bad off until I was about 7 or 8 months with my son and here I am only 5 months so yes, I am scared for the future. All I want to do is eat! It's pretty pathetic. It is getting more difficult to paint my toes. I can do it but it is a stretch. My belly is getting big fast now! I feel I am going to be huge and I am terrified. Of course my main concern is the health of these babies but this weight gain is tough to deal with. It's been too hot to go on my walks for the past few days so I can't wait for it to cool off.

  • Thank God @keshakdavis !! I am so glad not to be alone. My best friend had twins and she said she had the same stuff happening but it's even more reassuring to hear that you are going through the same stuff at the same time
as me. My back pain is always on the left too!!! Right now I am uncomfortably sitting on the couch- I can't sleep because of it.
I just ordered a belly support band from Amazon, I hope it helps somewhat.

On Wednesday I went to lunch with my sister in law at the mall, and then to motherhood to buy clothes for work - (I am a school counselor and start again soon. ) after trying on clothes and only going to that one store, we had to leave because I was so winded and uncomfortable, and got the pains again.

  • 17 weeks today. I have noticed cramping and general discomfort when more active. I didn't have this until much later in my first two pregnancies. I am guessing it's our body's way of telling us to slow down as there are two little people we are feeding and growing. My appetite still isn't back, and I vomited again this weekend after having a morning sickness reprive. Back on diclegis I go (tried skipping a day and had the vomiting). Waiting and hoping for the second trimester feeling better time!
  • @rah938 I hope you feel better soon !

  • It's weird - I can deal with doing stuff at the gym, but when it comes to standing or walking around, I am hopeless.

@keshakdavis - I also get winded from talking! But I'm often told I talk too fast, so that might be ok. I think I also forget to breathe when speaking. It's the worst when I'm trying to talk while walking. And don't get me started on stairs!
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one in pain! I feel like I got punched in the tailbone. And these damn round ligaments! I can't stretch out my legs in bed or else it hurts.

I was having back pain while sleeping and I found a wedge pillow at Baby's R Us that supports your belly when you lay on your side, it's really helped a lot and I've been able to sleep much better!

In other news I just heard both of their heartbeats at the midwife today and it made my day :) I also got to hear a few kicks and movements. I haven't felt much in the way of movements - their placentas are anterior and I'm on the heavier side so it's a relief to get any information that they're OK in there.

I'm actually excited about getting bigger - because it means they're getting bigger :) I'll handle all the aches and pains if it means they stay in there as long as possible and are big healthy babies.
  • I had my 16 week doctor's appointment today and got to see the little babes!  We know one is a boy from the blood test and were hoping to catch a glimpse of the other to know before the anatomy scan at 20 weeks.  One baby was kicking away clearly showing off his goods; the other was curled up in a fetal position so we couldn't see anything.  So we have to wait a little longer.  But most importantly, those two are healthy and happy in there.  The doctor told me I had to stop laughing so much during the ultrasound as she couldn't get good pictures.  It is just so fun to see them and be reminded of what's going on in there! (it's so easy to forget)

I have been feeling way better energy wise, but my stomach still isn't quite normal.  I also have ab pain from sitting basically all the time.  Not a ton of round ligament pain yet.

Sorry to hear you ladies are in pain.  Thank goodness we have each other to bounce these things off of ;-)

  • I am 17 weeks 2 days with twins. I really havent popped much at all. My lower abdomen starts painting from walking around to much or if I do too much but usually every evening it kicks in as well as round ligament pain. I get tired very easy and honestly can only do so much before sitting or laying right down. For some reason my upper back hurts. I can't get comfortable to sleep so I'm up almost every hour. Other than that and seeing them on ultrasounds I would not know I am pregnant at all. However the hunger is beginning and I've gained the 6 pounds I lost back.
  • Hi ladies!
I'm 20w and like a few of you, in pain and not sleeping well! I have a U-shaped pillow to try to sleep on my side, but I am so uncomfortable I end up rolling onto my back throughout the night. My poor husband hasn't been sleeping well either. I have constant pain in my lower left side of my back. I've haven't had much breathlessness, but I do feel tired very easily. I have a good day and go to the gym, then the next day I'm wiped out.
I've gained 15pounds! As much as I'm loving my bump, I have a wedding this weekend and tried on maternity clothes all day today, almost cried because they all looked awful. I finally found a non-maternity dress, $230 but worth it because I felt nice and at this stage that feeling is priceless!
I saw my Dr the other day, she said we're aiming for the middle of Dec to give birth, 37w. Which means I've only got 17w to go! Crazy!
  • @NenaB54 i was the same way the other day!! Got out of the shower breathing so hard and my husband was like did you have a good shower or what? Lol felt like i just got done running a 5k or something.

I am 17w3d today! But measuring to be 20 weeks! Lol babies are growing! Had my doctors appt yesterday, & FINALLY met my doctor. I've been seeing his nurse practitioner, who i love!! But we checked the heartrates and normally baby a stays in the 160's and baby b stays in the 140's. But yesterday baby a was 140 and baby b was 128. He was kind of concerned but said that im still in the safe zone... what?? I go see a specialist this Thursday, just to get second opinions about everything but it still has me nervous about baby b. Should i be? First time mom and not sure how "normal" everything is suppose to be..

I also toss and turn thru out the night. Seems like i cannot get a good night's rest. And the tummy/gas pains are worse at night. I'm ready for that part to be over with. & lower back pain is in full effect! Yay. Lol.

Hope all of you mommas are having a great week! Love getting on here and chatting with you all.
  • @AshleighhSue - If they say not to worry - don't. (Even though they gave you a stupidly confusing message). Wait to hear what the specialist says.

Last week we were totally panicked about something the doc told us and when we went in yesterday for a different scan we asked how worried we should be. The doctor replied "you should be more worried about raising and paying for twins" than about the concern. Hope you can stay positive!
  • Hi all,
Firstly, I agree with @keshadavis this is a wonderful group of ladies and I appreciate the support so much!

I know it's a little early to be thinking about this, but my sisters in law last night were asking when I would have my baby shower because they want to host it...Being a first time mum I have no idea when these things are meant to be done and also having twins I'm worried about planning it too late and babies coming early! Then to add to the complexities, my mum is coming over from USA at the end of Oct, so I will be 30w when she gets here. If I did it the following weekend at 31w, do you all think this is too late in the pregnancy??
  • I think it would be lovely to do it when your mom is there. 31 weeks is fairly safe I think. I am having my shower at the end of October as well, however I will be 27 weeks as I am due a bit later. :-)

  • Hi ladies. I've been away a few days but decided to pop in mid-convo. @keshakdavis, I agree I feel supported by our little multiples group and usually stick to posting here. @emmalc16 I definitely agree that waiting until your mom is there would be very special. You may be a little uncomfortable at 31 weeks but you can totally relax - that's what showers are all about afterall; let your ladies pamper you!
I'm feeling great this week, except for my sciatica flaring up here and there. I can't wait to find out my babies sexes in less than 2 weeks!

  • You ladies are awesome. Like the previous posters have said, by far the sweetest grouo of this jan board :)
Going tomorrow to find out what we're having and about the heart rates! Eeek!!!
I am having my baby shower in oct also. I'll be about 28 weeks. But thought that was plenty of time to set everything up and still be comfortable. But i think you'll be fine!
@emmalc16 a little uncomfortable maybe, but being around family and friends celebrating the twins will be worth it! :)
  • Thank you all for your reassurance!

@AshleighhSue Good luck with your specialist appointment!

  • @ashleighhsue let us know how the appt goes!! That's exciting!

  • Has everyone started registries? I am SO OVERWHELMED by this.  Does anyone have a link to a good article/guide on what to register for for twins?

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • We aren't starting any registry until 24 weeks and then only making it public after babies are born. Our families don't bring anything home until babies arrive, but I'd be excited to see what you guys are picking out!
  • Hello ladies! I just wanted to share my food news as I haven't posted on here in awhile! We found out a couple days ago we are having girls!! Yay! I'm so excited! I too have been having plenty of aches and pains! Especially around my belly. Kind of like a burning sensation. It's weird! But other than that everything has been going great! Thank you to everyone who posts on the multiples thread it help tremendously with my anxiety being I'm a first time mom! Thank you! Here's a picture of our announcement! Hopefully it attaches!
  • I meant *good! Here I am always thinking about food now haha

  • @queenbee94 congratulations on your girls!! They are going to be so much fun to dress up!!!

I also love u girls because on the regular board I worry about posting anything because a lot of ppl on the board go off on people about searching posts, or that their post should be somewhere else. With this thread I feel comfortable to just post whatever!
So on that note - I am super nauseous today. It's back with a vengeance :(
