TTC After a Loss

First cycle after MC - frustrated

So, here's my story: TTC for 10 months. Husband has low sperm count, but miraculously we got a BFP in June, just before we were scheduled to start IUI. Then, started bleeding June 21 and I think ultimately miscarried on July 1 at 5-6 weeks. Spotted until HCG hit zero around July 15 (24 days of bleeding total - UGH), and then AF came on July 25.

Been using Wondfo OPKs twice a day since CD 7 and STILL haven't gotten a positive (on CD 20 now) though I did get a dramatic darkening (from almost no line to a strong line that still wasn't as dark as control) on CD 15. Lines continue to be pretty dark - they haven't really faded out. FWIW I've had trouble with OPKs in the past, possibly because I stay pretty hydrated or maybe they just don't work for me. I never got a positive on the Clearblue pink ones the month I got my BFP, though I did get a positive that month on the purple Clearblue advanced (yes, I was doing both, I am a crazy person).

So, I guess I don't really have a question, just wanted to put all that out there and see if anybody else has experienced anything similar. I'm sad, frustrated, impatient, lonely - you name it. This whole process has been so disheartening that I would at least like to know whether I'm ovulating at this point or no. My cycles are usually on the short side (24-25 days) so AF is due mid next week, although I understand it's common to have wonky long cycles after a miscarriage. And I'm currently not temping because drinking messes with my temp too much and so help me I could use a glass of wine lately :)

  • I am also a person who has trouble with OPKs. I never feel like they give me comfort as much as I want them too.

I'm sorry your feeling frustrated - your definitely among people who understand that feeling! Unfortunately the only way to know for sure youre ovulating is temping or blood test - but I feel ya on choosing the wine occasionally!

  • I don't even know where to start with OPKs. Luckily someone told me to start two weeks after my miscarriage which was a week ago tomorrow. What's frustrating me more than anything is my husband works away from home so in order for us to try I need to get back to a regular cycle so I can have a bit more time to say "Hey get your booty home on such and such days so we can make a baby!" And 110 percent agree on the wine. The day our loss was confirmed I drank an entire bottle while sitting on my patio and venting to a friend. NOT a good habit and NOT my norm whatsoever but it helped take the sting away a bit.
  • I'm right there with you with the frustration and all the emotions. I miscarried in may had a 48 day cycle currently am on cd 39 and no positive or period. Used clear blue advanced opk got a peak on July 31 and got positive woldof opk august 2 and 3 but my temp show no ovulation so I'm very frustrated at that.

Hey ladies. This is my first time here. I had a miscarriage on June 30th with my first pregnancy. I am ready to start again, but I'm noticing that I'm not ovulating (no cm, where before I had a lot of it.) I was prescribed Prometrium to assist with a cycle, that lasted 3 days. My dr also recommended Pregnitude for my PCOS. I am so frustrated with my lack of ovulation....... I want to blame the OPK tests, but they were very helpful with helping me get pregnant the first time. Though I'm still hopeful and patient. Everyone told me that after my mc I'd probably get pregnant fast. That didn't happen. Some days are better than others, but the healing and frustration is an everyday struggle.
I wish you the best. I totally understand your frustration! Just be patient, pray, and believe that your blessing is coming!
**I will say that cutting out meat and alcohol from my diet really helped me get pregnant the first time! (I have PCOS, so diet, nutrition, vitamins and being in tuned with your body is helpful in conceiving. )
Good luck! Here's baby dust and prayers to you!!!!
  • OPKs finally faded out a few days ago after never getting a true positive, so I'm choosing to believe that the day it got suddenly much darker (the 8th) was my positive and the next day, when I had what maybe, possibly could have been ovulation cramping was the day I actually O'd.

And NOW I've utterly convinced myself I'm pregnant. No real reason to think I am, especially after it took 10 tries the first time, but fingers crossed, and guess I'll know in about a week.
  • Fingers crossed!!

  • Soooo... I got a BFP on FRER this morning and also am spotting lightly. So I'm excited and also terrified. Yay?

I haven't told my husband yet - is it weird that I kind of want this to be my thing for a few days before I let him in on it? I guess I'm still kind of in shock - it took us TEN MONTHS to get pg the first time, and now here I am six weeks post MC with a BFP. LIFE IS WEIRD.
  • @goatsnakemouse !!!! Prayers for a sticky bean!!!
