Just ate fizzy semi dried tomatoes :/

Little worried...had a decent portion in a salad my partner prepared without looking at the expiry label...couldn't taste the fizzy until I had one on its own and then saw they are 2 days expired :/ probably should be buying these in a jar...fingers crossed no food poisoning? :(

  • 2 days expired? I think you'll be okay...

  • I guess i just get paranoid...there's so much written about what not to eat when pregnant I feel like I have to second guess EVERYTHING!
  • What's fizzy? Do you mean fuzzy?
  • Fizzy? If they were fizzy fermented, in sure your SO would've noticed that in the jar. 2 days expired is nothing, but the worst you might get is food poisoning... which would be unpleasant, but not harmful if you stay hydrated.

  • Expiration dates are usually very conservative estimate dates due to liability issues. I wouldn't worry about it having expired 2 days prior. Also, unless you actually get sick, it won't matter.

  • Yeah ive had expired semi dried tomatoes before and they actually get this fizzy taste...its quite off putting!
    Definitely not fuzzy ;)
  • I'm sure you'll be OK.  Even if you do get food poisoning, my understanding is that unlike listeria, it does not cross the placenta.  It is just miserable for the mother, but the baby is unaffected.  If you start to feel sick though, you should consult your doctor.
