What do you think of each name?

    I like both names, though Jacob is a very popular name. They are so different I would suggest waiting till he is born and see which one fits him better.

    I dated a guy who's parents decided another John in the family was overwhelming and let him change his name when he was 3. He chose Maximus. Now I just associate that name with a 3 year olds pick haha

    Maximus for me is a no. I actually love the name Jacob or Jake.
    But yes OP why the rush? You have some time yet to decide.

    If you plan to call him Max instead of Maximus, then I guess that works...

    My nephew's name is Jacob, so I do love that name because of him, however, I taught first grade this year and we had a first grader whose name was Jacob and he got taken away in handcuffs because he tried to strangle the principal with his neck tie. 

    Lol this is why my husband and I needed to have kids ASAP before my students ruined all the good names. ;)

    Maximus - I knew a Maximillian Atlas and he was such a cool guy - laid back, confident, friendly!  IMO Jacob is over-used.  My guess is there will be a LOT more in the future after Twilight...

    I can think of about 6 Jacobs I know off the top of my head. And Maximus sounds a bit pretentious. Is there a 3rd option?

    Mmhmm. And then later when he saw that police officer walking down the halls (officers patrolled the halls 2-3 times a day), he shouts out, "That's the guy who arrested me!" and then skipped off into the classroom like it was no big deal.
