Thread veins look awful!

Im really annoyed with my dr as I went 8 weeks ago to say I was getting the ugly things all up the back of my calf, he didn't even want to look at them and just said they happen in pregnancy, they're now huge and go round my ankle and all up my leg.. I've finally been given some support stockings but I'm very upset if I'd had these sooner they wouldn't have got so bad! I've read a few articles implying they could decrease after baby is born, does anyone know this to be true?

Re: Thread veins look awful!

  • I've never heard of thread veins but I have a varicose vein in one leg I was prescribed a stocking for. I don't know if it will go away completely after pregnancy but I think when circulation goes back to normal it will be less noticeable. If you mean spider veins though, I don't know. Those seem to stick around from what I've seen.

Yes spider veins are the same thing.. Oh god I was hoping they would clear up, I have read several places they can improve but I guess everyone's different, here's hoping though
  • I've had spider veins since I was a teenager they never went away. I do think they can be treated with lasers or somethings But mine are minor and not worth spending money to get rid of them.

  • I haven't gotten any due to pregnancy, but they run in my family. I think it's the fair Irish skin. My mother had her legs done and it was a pretty easy treatment with lasers. Hopefully they will go away but if they don't you do have options.

More importantly it sounds like your doctor may not be a good fit for you if he's not addressing your concerns. Yes things may be normal during pregnancy but he should
Have taken the time to take a look and offer suggestions.
  • Yes he should have that's what annoyed me the most, he told me to wait till after the pregnancy as there wasn't anything could be done before.. I know it's only a minor problem ️really and o shouldn't be complaining as long as both myself and baby are healthy, just could've been prevented! I have looked at treatment for after lo is here.. Just see how things go. Thanks ladies
  • They really can't be prevented, even with support hose.
Some people grt them, others dont.
    Thank God for Raid.

Wow lol thanks for the comforting words.. The support stockings are definitely helping they don't look as bad the last few days since wearing them, still there though but faded!
  • My mom got them all over her thighs when she was pregnant with me and they never went away. She was so worried for me to get them because I am so fair skinned but I have been very lucky and nothing this far. She did have laser on them (25 years later) but it was painless and her legs look great.
