  • lap pads are thicker and waterproof. Burp cloths are not. I don't have lap pads. I use gerber cloth diapers as burp cloths.
  • I should add that I'm only going by the lap pads i've seen.?
  • I also use cloth diapers.
  • We use cloth diapers for burp cloths.  We use lap pads under Kate for tummy time or when she's on her play mat (to catch her spit up).  We use both every day, but you can probably get away with just having burp cloths.
  • I love cloth diaper like burp cloths...

  • burp cloths are not waterproof- i use mainly cloth diapers for these, except I have a few cute terrycloth ones for going out- but they don't work as well as the plain white cloth diapers..   Lap pads are waterproof - I have some that are flannel covered- I use them under their head in the crib to keep spitup off the sheets and to keep from changing the sheets 50 million times.  I also have one on my changing pad- over the cover so I don't have to change it as often.  They are also great to use to change the baby on other places than the changing table so you don't risk getting poop, spitup, etc.  everywhere.  HTH!
  • great, thanks for the info!
  • We have a super spitter, so we use burp cloths, receiving blankets, and clothes to contain it.
  • jjust buy a bunch of cloth diapers to use as burp cloths.  You don't need lap pads
  • You definitely need burp cloths - we also use cloth diapers. Start with a Gerber 12 pack, but if you end up with a spitter like us, you'll need lots more. We also use lap pads on top of his changing pad cover so we don't have to change the whole thing and wash it if he pees on the table.
  • We use lap pads that I got secondhand (and thoroughly bleached and cleaned) to lay on top of the changing pad on the changing table. When we change her, we put her bottom on top of the lap pad. This has helped us SO much with not having to change the changing pad's cover as often. I also keep one in the diaper bag, which has helped already when Avery peed/pooped through her clothes and it was all over the car seat. I just stuck the pad down and she didn't get anything on her new outfit. I use the cloth burp cloths for when we burped her and basically just a "spit rag"...
