Trying to Get Pregnant

Does multiple ejacuations help in ttc?

Hi, my boyfriend is older than me...42 to be specific. So I already was thinking we would have trouble concieving...but I have recently researched a lot about ttc and can't get the answer anywhere....does multiple ejaculation effect chances of pregnancy on fertile week? Say on second day he ejaculates 3 times in row.. We have gap then 4th day another 3, and then 2,3 (sometimes more) everyday up to ovulation...would this decrease the sperm count at the early stages of the week so I'm less prepared for more fertile ovulation days or would it increase my chances? He is always ejavulating 3 to 6 times when we gave sex at any given time....

Regards, CC

I believe it's "best practice" to BD EOD/ED but multiple times per day does not increase your chance. It actually makes the sperm not as mature.

For any veterans, please say if this is wrong. @cattlebride @TheBorg7of9 @Everycol0r

    You're correct.
Yup. OP, I think it would decrease your chance of getting healthy sperm, not increase.

  • Op what's your definition of ejaculates? If its how many times the guy shoots i think i kind of undrstand the question. If its orgasms hes fibbing. Teenage and early 20s have difficulties orgasming 3 or more times in a row. They need recovery time. @mrstmoose is correct aim for sex Ed or eod during your fertile window to increase your chances. Sex multiple times a day does not improve your chances statistically speaking.
  • No, it does not help to have sex more than once a day. I think it would most likely hurt your chances.
    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

    My Charts since 2009

  • No, it does not help to have sex more than once a day. I think it would most likely hurt your chances.

This. Once, every other day-- is more than sufficient.

You are correct. The recommendation is sex every other day throughout your cycle and as much as every day during your fertile window (for a healthy man). This keeps the sperm healthy because it's not around for too long but it's also enough time to build up a healthy supply of sperm.

  • Assuming you mean three orgasms, which...what!?

If that is correct, research says that there is no increase in the pregnancy rate of couples who BD every day vs. every other day. So three times in one day should not help any more than BD every day does not increase chances vs. DTD every other day.

And regarding his age, I'm just going to leave this here. Fertile...until...death!

Edited to include that this is a reference from TCOYF.

  • So like, is he ejaculating multiple times in a row or are you having sex 3 times a day at different times? By golly, my lady bits hurt just thinking of it.

@mrstmoose is correct though. Multiple seminal deposits in the baby bank don't increase the balance. You may actually be hurting your chances instead of increasing it.

@Everycol0r - Love this line. May have to use it on DH when I'm just too tired and he tries to use TTC to convince me! lol

Always glad to help my fellow (wo)mankind. ;)

  • Haha, This thread is silly :) It sounds like she means "number of squirts" rather than orgasms.. but yea, I started out my ttc experience trying to do it many times a day during and around "o" time and now I'm learning that may have hurt our chances rather than helped!! Maybe you should be a tease for a few days before o and let those mature swimmers build up!!

  • This thread made me LOL.
  • Lurking!

On a different note- no one wants that much semen in them. YUCK. If you went near a black light GURL you'd light up like a firework. Yikes.

This ^^ just killed me! lol

Just an old 'bad apple' with no home to call her own, lurking in the shadows :-)
  • What happened to the OP? This thread is entertaining and making me want to grab popcorn
