What do you do with your time?

the last few weeks of pregnancy when told to relax, on maternity leave or just stay home what keeps you occupied all day? Activities?

I am 32 weeks and still working full time. Idk what relaxing at home all day is like :(( but I feel blessed to be healthy and able to work everyday!

  • I'll be working full time until 38 weeks. That's when the school years ends... Let's just say I might be teaching in a chair in a few weeks lol :-)

Still working full time, maternity leave starts May 22 and I can't wait. I'm a paramedic (lots of lifting) so I was hoping to be out earlier than 33 weeks but bills don't care about maternity leave lol. First thing I plan on doing is sleeping, then sleeping some more. In the middle of all that sleeping, we need to start our nursery. So basically, sleeping and decorating is the plan.
  • Unless pulled from work by my doctor, I'm working full time until delivery. There is no such thing as down time in my world!

Same here. I Don't have a physically intensive career, so as long as I can dress myself and drive, I'm going to keep working.

  • I was on leave two weeks before my DD, and baby took another week to get here. Meanwhile, I got the house ready for the baby (cleaned serveral times, put together some furniture, set up the changing table etc), I cooked a lot of freezer meals, I did all those little projects that you have thought of forever but never have time for, took long walks etc. I also watched a lot of Netflix.

My baby is due next week and I have been at home every day (lost my job in January and decided not to look again until later this year, after baby). I try to get outside and walk every day, usually for 45 minutes to an hour. I also made a bunch of freezer meals and was able to wash all baby's new things and organize the nursery. I made a mobile for her room. I'm trying to motivate myself to fill in her baby book.
Mostly regular household activities keep me busy — laundry, vacuuming, cooking meals, grocery shopping, etc. It's been nice to pace myself on that kind of stuff throughout the week so I can also relax and spend time with my husband before our first child arrives and turns out world upside down! I have also needed naps from time to time since I'm not sleeping too great at this point.
But the waiting is tough! Watching the due date approach and wondering when (when?!) she will arrive is making me so restless!

  • I'm almost 31 weeks and still working.  I teach, so at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  School will be out when I am 33 weeks along.  Fiance and I will be moving into our new house a week after that, so I know I will have plenty to do to keep me busy.  Can't wait to set up the nursery.  I just hope I still have energy!

I'm also a teacher. Barring any complications, I'll work until the end of the school year, which will put me right around 36 weeks. I keep telling myself that I'll work on setting up the nursery once school is done, so I hope I still have enough energy to take care of that once I'm done with work! Otherwise I imagine I'll be cleaning and sleeping as much as possible.
  • What is free time? lol I don't think I even know what that means anymore. I have 2 kids at home. DS is 6 and DD is 2.  I'm 36 weeks pregnant with our third and working full time.  I don't have any free time.  I don't relax.

  • I've gotten really into listening to podcasts... I actually got really into them after my baby was born because I was sitting around nursing so much and he didn't like for me to have a book in my hands. Podcasts are great because you can just turn them on and listen and get other things done as well unlike TV where you have to be in front of it you can listen to a podcast and walk around the house doing whatever (or sitting and nursing!) There are lots of great ones out there - This American Life, Radio Lab, tons that are on specific topics - so if you like history or literature or video games - lots of stuff. So, I like them so much I started one! Here is a link to a podcast that has an interview with a labor and delivery nurse (episode 2) - lots of good info for moms but also some sad stuff, so be ware.  https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/people-on-paper-podcast/id992274806
  • I have an intense and demanding job, especially at this time of year. I work in development at a college and plan alumni and donor events like reunion, graduation, etc. I have been working every Saturday since March and will until the end of May. Then I'm taking a group of alumni and donors on an international trip to Cuba! I won't have down time until mid June and even then my time will be spent strategy planning for my maternity leave. I won't stop working until the baby pops out!

The random down time during my work day is spent often on The Bump, DListed or Fundraising Girl for a little humor, Pinterest, or adding to/revising our registry.
  • I work 30 hours a week and am taking care of my 2.5 and 4 year boys the other hours. That said, I do have to spend a fair amount of time down--about 14 hours a day to deal with a chronic pain condition that pregnancy exacerbates.  I took an online grad class this quarter so that in those hours when I need to be off my feet and the kids are in bed, I can keep my mind busy.  In my previous pregnancies I worked 40 hours a week until labor, but this time I am thinking about taking vacation days from 38 weeks until delivery/maternity leave starts. If I did that, I would keep things mostly the same, but take more time for napping and nesting.
  • I also work full time and after work I have to pick up my 14 month old baby boy from daycare so yeah :) thank god my husband helps me a lot when he gets home!

  • 37 weeks tomorrow and I got put on early maternity leave this Monday to "take it easy" because of gestational hypertension. I was hoping to finish out the week but no luck!

I made the promise to my DH that I'd keep my chores to 30 minutes with at least an hour of rest before and after, so what I've been able to do is
-continue organizing baby's clothes and gear
-cook small meals (which, it's amazing how much of an illusion feeling of independence this gives me)
-catch up on baby book and nursing book reading
    -thebumpthebumpthebump
-make little gifts for mom & MIL (their own diaper bags with letters from the baby)
    -ALL THE NETFLIX

And I'm not going to lie... when all else fails, I nap.

  • I'm an ICU nurse working 12 hour night shifts and I'm working up until delivery.  If I have to cut down to 2 shifts a week I will, but I refuse to cut into my maternity leave before the baby arrives unless there's a medical reason.

  • Working until I go into labour. I'm a tattoo artist, so when I don't have a customer, I can just chill until one comes in. At home, I do light cleaning, get caught up on the shows I was too busy to watch back when I had energy, and take naps.

  • I have been relaxing for a long while. I still work a few days a week but it's basically a desk job probaly work till delivery. Watch Netflix majority of the day, take the dogs out, and try to clean at least 30 mins everyday, and of course cook.
  • Working part time and taking care of my other three kids, 5 and under.

  • I posted this on the June board, but heard this somewhere along the way and plan to try it when my maternity leave starts next week:

Do Something Productive in the morning,
Something Fun in the afternoon, and
    Something Relaxing in the evening
  • I am an ER nurse and am working up until I pop. I am currently 32 weeks and low risk, so I see no need to cut back at work. I want every possible moment home with my baby
  • I'm 32 weeks and only able to work because I have a desk job. I'm on limited activity, so I pass most of my days by binge watching shows that girls at work suggest. It is extremely hard, but it's best for baby. Relax, prop your feet up, drink lots of water and juice, and have snacks and quick meals on hand. If you need help around the house, don't be afraid to ask. My mother comes over once or twice a week to help my husband keep the house in order.
  • My 7 year old, housework, naps, netflix, shopping, meal prep, hobbies and spending time with friends and family are the things that I have been passing time with.

    And waiting. Lots of waiting.
  • I plan on working until either my C-section which is scheduled for Sept 21 or whenever my Sugarlump decides to make an appearance if that happens to be before the planned date.

  • Im currently 23 weeks and work for CPS (in Australia) The department policy states that I must be on maternity leave a minimum of 6 weeks prior to EDD which means my maternity leave starts on the 2/11/15. I have been put on strict office duties with no direct client contact as it puts my baby at risk. Im so tired all the time and my back in killing me so I can not wait till maternity leave.
  • ETA: I plan to relax, cook meals, get my hospital bag ready and do one last massive clean before bubs arrives.
  • I work during week but yea today I feel like I should be doing something other than laying on couch. Although I am enjoying it. It's 90's out so too hot to be out there and I've already did all the clothes washing this week, and nursery is done. Still have to wash bottles and pack bag and baby proof, but only 29 weeks so don't want to do that this early. One thing I do have to do is write thank you cards. Probably at least 30 more to go. But can only do so much at once!

    Any other ideas ?
