My daughter lost her cord around 2 weeks. She is now 4 weeks today and her belly button is bleeding. Anyone experience this? Of course we called our pediatrician and they had just closed.
Our sons took a long time to heal. His fell off about 2 weeks too, but was still like green and yucky. I put neosporin on it and it healed Perfectly! I would soak it and wipe out the yuck during bathtime and then put the neosporin on it after bath and with every diaper change it made a huge difference. Good luck!
How much blood? Our daughters did too. Just take a cotton swab with alcohol and drip it on there to dry it out.
Same with my son! Fell off after a week. About 5 days later I noticed some blood and took alcohol to cotton ball and dabbed. I only had to do this for 3 days and it stopped. If it a lot of blood I would definitely contact doctor
Our pediatrician recommends NOT putting anything on the belly button. Our daughter's cord fell of very early and it was bleeding too. We didn't do anything to it but after a week of bleeding with no healing we went in and they closed the capillaries by using a little stick. I'd say wait it out and not do anything, a little blood is normal, but if it continues go in to the pedi.
Thanks everyone. It was not too much, it just freaked me out more than it should have I think. I just went to change her and it was all bloody but not too much. I will wait it out and see what happens.
When LOs fell off, it left a little deep inside. Looks like a scab. I went to doc for a weight check and had doc look at it. Said it was fine but closed the capillaries with the little stick to be sure it didn't bled. Worked like a charm. If it bleeds for too long or if you have an appt coming up, have them look at it. They may do the same thing.
